| Chlorhexiderm Flush and Q-tips. Please do not use Q-tips without it being okayed by your vet and have them explain how. Some vets discourage using them at all... This product is also not specifically for ears but it is what Ellie's vet has me use.

You are good, real good! Unless you KNOW EXACTLY how to use q-tips you will only be pushing back all the debris back in the ear canal.... good tip, when you are using a solution, hold the ears out flat- like an airplane wing--if you hold them straight up, you will be closing the ear canal.......

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I use a brand called "ProEar", Petedge sells it. Also, the linked site has some of the best information about ear cleaners, (and other dog health articles)...several home-made cleaners. I've a friend that has used the one with Betadine, vinegar, alcohol and boric acid. Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I don't use anything special to clean their ears. I think I'm okay not using anything. But if your baby has issues that continue, maybe then use a product?

| I love Oticalm too and have been using it for 2.5 years now. Was recommended by my vet when my pup had ear problem when he was young and the vet said I should just keep up with it.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I've never cleaned Joey's ears; I pull the hair out of the canal, but have never really cleaned the ears. They smell good, and look good, should I be doing something more?

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | That's where we're at too - I don't think I'm going to introduce any chemicals unless I have to - as in, unless their ears start having problems (chronic-ish)...

I have heard that dogs ears should be cleaned once a week in the summer, so that is probably what I'd do if he isn't having problems but then again, if it ain't broke, why fix it?

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | You know we both live in Arizona, and the air is really dry here, I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

| The reason i asked this question in the first place was cause Pasquale seems to be itching. He doesnt itch anything but his ears. At first i thought it was his food...so i switched him to Natural Balance Venison and sweet potato. He's still itching.(just his ears) Anyways he's been to the vets a few times for checkups and he always checks his ears...never mentioned anything unusual. At first i thought it was normal itching......but its just so strange its just his ears?

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | VERY good point...I wonder if that has something to do with it. Makes sense. But then, are Ellie's ears a bit better in winter when it's drier?
