| Hobbs & Hootie have to get their teeth cleaned. I noticed a few months ago that Hobbs & Hootie's teeth were disgusting. I tried cleaning them myself with Petzlife. Hootie's teeth seemed to clean up nicer than Hobbs'. However, I think the Petzlife was making Hootie sick. Each night that I would brush her teeth, she would wake up in the middle of the night vomiting. So, since Hootie was getting sick and Hobbs teeth are still very gross, I'm going to just bite the bullet and let the vet clean them. Hootie is 3.5lbs and Hobbs is a little over 4lbs. My vet assured me that they should be fine under anesthesia. Should I be worried? Both of them have been under anesthesia once before to get fixed, but I'm still so nervous. |

| I think they will be fine under anesthesia. Trust your vet and make sure they follow safe anesthetic protocol. Leaving tartar on their teeth could lead to organ problems. It is best to get it taken care of early.

| Thanks for the reassurance! I agree that I need to get it taken care of. They are still young so hopefully if I go ahead and get it done the tarter won't cause any long term side effects. |

| Leba III for teeth cleaning ! Has anyone tried the Leba III for cleaning ur BBYKINS teeth? They say some vets in Florida are using it... It is expensive but so is the dental cleaning at the vet. I was thinking of trying it out, as our BBYKIN also was vomiting foam from the toothpaste for pets. Now we use the herbal toothpaste..that seems to be alright for him |

| Mine both had dentals and they were fine. Sammy had terrible breath and actually she needed an extraction and that's probably why. Npw their breath is MUCH better. I do brush like 3 times a week and the vet said it helps but they still need dentals because it gets under the gums and they get x-rays and all that fun stuff. Yorkies have terrible teeth to begin with. Hootie & Hobbs will be fine. P.S. Sammy has been under 3 times now and she handles it really well. Loki has been under twice. Just have blood work done to make sure kidney/liver function is OK. If there is a problem your vet won't put them under.

| oh mannn. poor charlie has a horrible problem with this! he has the worst breath, and his teeth are brown! i'm definitely going to have to take him to a vet to work on him. we just got him a month ago, and have been putting off taking him to get stuff done, just for money reasons. it's nice to know though that they put them under to do it. he is such a good dog, but i couldn't imagine how they were going to do the work he needs. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Pixie had terrible teeth and gums. all infected and she isn't yet 3. So after trying on my own we went ahead with the dental by the vet. She was on antibiotics 3 days prior and 5 days after and she did fine. Had 5 teeth pulled and came home and I caught her chewing on a hoof. Ate that night and acted totally fine. It is so nice to have her with fresh breath and clean teeth. I have been trying to clean them my self every night but nothing seems to work that great and I have heard some negative thigns about Petzlife recently so I stopped that. So I think you will be glad you did it.

| Dentals Hi, I just had my Mozes' teeth done this past Thursday. I got him when he was 3 and his teeth were atrocious then, he is 5 now. I try to keep up with them but they are/were just terrible. He had to have 9 teeth pulled--poor baby. They were all his front upper and lower teeth. He had already lost 2 on their own. He made out fine with going under and recovered quickly. I think he is a much happier camper now that his poor little mouth is not hurting from all the yuk! He unfortunately, has had bad teeth since he was 11 months old. It (cleaning) is the best thing to do because it can/will affect their liver, kidneys etc if let go too long. They'll thank you for it with lots of "fresh smelling" kisses!

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | One reason I wouldn't use it as toothpaste is that dogs hate the taste. It's hard enough to brush their teeth with toothpaste they love, but with something they hate, it would be a real battle. It is said to work best if you leave a coating of it on with no food given 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after. It coats the teeth and is said to soften the tartar allowing you to brush it away at another time. Applying it with a toothbrush may be what they mean, but I apply it with my finger. Petzlife does contain alcohol, and some people believe that no alcohol should be given, but in small amounts it isn't harmful, and you need a tiny amount if you are just applying it to the teeth, and not brushing with it. Some people are afraid of the grape seed extract, because of the resent warnings of raisins and grapes, however grape seed extract is not toxic, and is used to treat allergies. I'm just wondering iif you used it like a toothpaste he swallowed too much, thus making him sick?

| I brush the Petzlife on. They lick it if given the chance so they don't hate the taste (at least not nearly as much as the brush). I don't like the dog toothpastes because they smell gross. I brush the Petzlife on and they have good breath until they eat again. Then they have kibble breath But yeah, I use it as a toothpaste because it makes their breath minty fresh I don't use very much. I put a tiny bit on a toddler toothbrush. I buy the firefly toothbrushes in a 2 pack for 99c an they each get their own
