| Reverse sneezing My Yorkie Dolly has bouts of reverse sneezing and it is scarey. Vet doesn't seem to think it is a throat problem but we are really concerned. Sometimes it seems like it is related to her being very excited, other times the cause is not apparent. Sometimes we have to blow in her nose to stop it? She may go a long time between bouts and then she may have several close together. We are suspecting it is partially caused by an allergy. Does anyone else deal with this? Thanks, Barb |

| i just wanted to say Welcome to Yorkie Talk. I haven't had experience with reverse sneezing but I saw on TV Once that you are supposed to blow in their nose like you said to make it stop. I know someone will come on who can give you better info. |

I would use a harness only on your puppy. The vet told me all the time to just blow in their nose, and it really does help.

| the best way as i have two that do it along with maltese is to put your finger over their nostrils and then open their mouth as you want them to breath with their mouth to stop it and this works fast as i have tried everything i only like step in harnesses so nothing gets close to trachea |

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | One of my guys, Eddie, has had it most of his life. The vet's not even sure if it's a trachea issue or reverse sneezing because he's never seen an episode. But he says that as infrequently as it happens, he wouldn't treat either one right now. I'm pretty sure it's reverse sneezing because his neck extends and he sort of honks as he's trying to inhale. I suspected trachea problems because it seemed to be worse when I was still using a buckle collar on his neck. I long ago switched to a harness. But I recently read something saying that a buckle collar could cause reverse sneezing. I'm sure you've read all about it, but this link is a pretty straightforward description.
