| ARG LP in both legs now.. question about walking... Our vet visit was today.... Layla needs to loose a pound... lol.... she tends to gain weight in the summer because it is too hot to walk. Anyways... she has LP in both of her legs now... which is new.... The vet was talking about how she needs to loose the 1 lb to help with the LP but that she shouldn't overdo it... how do i know what the balance is? Some days she can go on a 40 min walk and other days she can't without favouring her knee... I don't want things to get worse (if they do we will be referred to a specialist) but i know walking helps with the muscles around the knee... anyways... i just don' tknow how to tell HOW Much she can walk..... |

| Awww Marci I'm sorry that Layla's visit didn't go well. I don't know a thing about LP but you're a great mommy to Layla. I'm sure you'll figure it out. HUGS!

| aw thank you SO much! I kinda feel guilty... Layla's tummy can't deal with Glucosamine so she hasn't been getting a supplement that she needs to help her knees.... and i wonder had I been able to find a source that agreed with her it might not have progressed to the other leg. oh well... i can only do what i can do i guess.... |

| Poor little thing. That would be hard to find the balance. Maybe walk for 15 minutes at a time and if she favors it, pick her up? How is swimming going? It sounds like she needs a great source of glucosamine. That has got to be frustrating for you. What are the grades now?

Crystal i am BEYOND frustrated with the Gluc... i'm going to try to reintroduce the one i have now (kinda looks like salt... so not an oil) into her nightly snack of yogurt and fruit and see if she'll take it that way...

| I'm sorry Lil Layla has LP in both legs now! I think that 10-15 mins or shorter if you notice her starting to favor her knee... How did those treats work for the glucosamine? Did those bother her tummy? Sending hugs to you & layla

The problem with giving it in treats in that it may not be a source that Layla can use (or it may be). All this scientific stuff goes into it like source and I think some type of weight. If she is eating them, I'd say why not try it for a couple months but I wouldn't expect them to do much. If you are still not wanting to go the Cosequin route, can you get samples of SynoviG3 (some ortho surgeons recommend it) or Glycoflex (Ellie's vet likes it..don't know why) there?

i only want what's best but i also don't have an unlimited budget to buy supplements that make her sick. Perhaps i can call the vet tomorrow and see if i can get a sample of whatever they have....

Ellie's budget is limited also and I would not keep buying supplements without sampling first. I have a small pill bottle and one of those things to keep them dry now. I wonder if it would be allowed in the mail to Canada? And for the supplements that make her sick, why not sell them on YT?
