| Orijen Senior for young adults? Both the pups are just at a year old. They get fed raw stuff for breakfast, but I put crunchies out for them to nibble on for the rest of the day. They've been eating the Orijen puppy food, but Saturday I was checking out ingredients, thinking of maybe getting them off puppy food, and liked the ingredients on another type, so I got a bag of it. It wasn't until I got home that I noticed it was for Seniors. It's still high in protein, and I don't think there's anything in there that they won't be able to properly utilize, but I just wanted to make sure it wasn't lacking something they needed, either. I had a hard enough time figuring out what was "good" in fish food ... dog food, well, I'm still trying to learn. Is this OK? Ingredients: Fresh Regional Ingredients - Fresh chicken meat, chicken meal (low ash), turkey meal, steamed russet potato, fresh-caught Northern Whitefish, chicken fat, fresh whole eggs, salmon meal, salmon and anchovy oils, tapioca, chicken broth, sunflower oil, flaxseed, Atlantic kelp, steamed carrots, spinach, peas and tomatoes, sun-cured alfalfa, apple fiber, psyllium seed, rosemary extract, yeast extract (MOS), glucosamine HCl, cranberries, black currants, chondroitin sulfate. Tonic Herbs and Botanicals - Chicory, burdock and marshmallow root (FOS), rosehips, stinging nettle, marigold flowers, L-carnitine, fennel seed, chamomile flowers, milk thistle, chickweed, summer savory. Organic Minerals - Iron proteinate, zinc proteinate, manganese proteinate, copper proteinate. Probiotic Microorganisms - Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus casei, Bifidobacterium (B. bifidus), Saccharomyces (S. boulardii). Premium Vitamins - Mixed tocopherols (source of vitamin E), choline chloride, vitamin A, vitamin D3, niacin, riboflavin, thiamine mononitrate, vitamin B12, folic acid, biotin, pyridoxine (source of vitamin B6). Guaranteed Analysis: Protein 42.0% (min.) Carbohydrate 18.0% (max.) Fat 14.0% (min.) Moisture 10.0% (max.) Fiber 3.5% (max.) Calcium 1.5% (min.) Phosphorus 1.4% (min.) Omega-6 1.5% (min.) Omega-3 0.7% (min.) Glucosamine 800 mg/kg (min.) Chondroitin 150 mg/kg (min.) Microorganisms 50 M cfu/kg Botanical Inclusions Marshmallow root 700 mg/kg Chicory root 700 mg/kg Stinging nettle 500 mg/kg Burdock root 400 mg/kg Fennel seed 350 mg/kg Marigold flowers 350 mg/kg Chamomile flowers 350 mg/kg Milk thistle 250 mg/kg Summer savory 250 mg/kg Chickweed 250 mg/kg TIA for your input. |

| I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I didn't think you were supposed to mix raw with dry food?

If there's a good reason, then I'll stop. But it seems to serve them well enough (at this point in time, at least).

| If you're really worried, maybe you can sell the rest on the internet? We do this in my country, mostly because we don't have smaller bags for Orijen, so if some dogs doesn't suit with the food, they will not lose too much money. This food is not cheap Try do this. |

| Where Where did you buy the Orijen in Indonesia? I am wondering if I can find it in Indonesia because I plan to visit Bali and Surabaya next year. Thank you. |

| I think I would be concerned about the calorie and fat content. Isn't the senior food made with less calories for less active adult dogs? I'm sure one bag wouldn't hurt but you might want to mix in a bag of their regular adult food just to be sure. Your younger dogs may not be getting all the nutrition they need on a senior food so you might want to check with your vet. |

As for the Orijen Sr. - the real difference is in the Carb and Fats and it's quite marginal, really. In the adult version, there is less carb and more fat than in the senior. Since you are also feeding raw (and can adjust to condition) - I don't think you really have much to sweat here. Sounds like a GREAT diet.

After reading from someone's post, I realized that Orijen has zea mays in its ingredients. I hope that the company will clarify it.

| How lucky! I would love to live out of the country again. I think Wylie's Mom emailed the company and asked about it. They replied with an answer, but she said she was still not satisfied. I don't know if they replied after that. But my dogs are not displaying any signs of allergy, and I've heard no allergy complaints from members feeding Orijen, so far so good.
