| I wouldn't go for Royal Canin, it's not great food, yet expensive as hell - well at least, in my country. 15 1/2 means 15 and a half weeks right? For a sec there I thought you meant 15 years Does your puppy have a problem? If she has sensitivity to food I would suggest Nature's Balance or Honest Kitchen Force. |

| i also woudln't feed this. They tend to use corn as a filler which is usually an allergen to dogs |

| well, I checked out the ingredients, and unless I'm missing something, there's no corn. That's a good thing. Why this food? Does your yorkie have problems that you are hoping to address?

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hmmm, it says it's for "skin" and then it's chock full of WHEAT and fillers and has inadequate meat content (appears to). I hear itch, itch, itch...

| My question is why is your vet recommending this? Does your pup have skin problems or other health issues? To answer you question, usually veterinary diets aren't necessary and there are better choices available depending on your pup's physical issues, so I would look for an alternative first.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Well, there are lots of people who can help you here. Is there a reason you're feeding the chicken/rice - and/or the prescription diet - was/is she sick? Pending that answer...are you near a very good pet food boutique? Do you want to feed dry, canned, homecook, raw - or - ? I feed Natures Variety Raw Frozen Medallions and I love it. Natures Variety also makes a good line of dry called Instinct and they make canned. Other kibbles I like: Orijen, Wellness Core. There are nice canned foods by Evangers and others....

| why this food Because i was feeding her nutro then i heard all of the horror stories, called vet and she said nothing Wrong with nutro that is a good food etc… I told her I still had reservations about it and would rather be safe and start her on something else then she recommended the above and some yorike dental stuff from petco…my little girl seems happy and is healthy - I started feeding her chicken/rice because I don’t know what to switch her to…a lady from here advices this for now and she loves it but I do need to buy something ugh! I just want what is best for her |

What do you want to do long-term (kibble, canned, homecooked or raw)? If your vet is concerned about your pup's teeth, the best thing you can do is brush them everyday.

Yorkie Yakker | I had the very same problem, was feeding Nutro, saw the posts and freaked!! My vet recommended Nutro and Hills Science diet. I got great info from a couple people here on the site, Wylie and Babz. They both provided great info to me....thanks guys!!. I wanted to switch to Orijen but it is newer and places around me are just ordering it and I needed to get him off Nutro ASAP, so I went with Wellness Core, he is loving it and many stores carry it, even Petco. I would try that, he hasn't had any problems with it, knock on wood, he has been eating it since Saturday. |

| Why this food? Thank you so much for all the feedback – I want to put her on kibble just don’t know what? What is raw? I can do homecooked too either and I agree with emilio1 I felt the same way I totally freaked lol – so anyway my top three are these just don’t know what? I read on other thread that Orijen has a fishy smell??? This is the hardest decision. Innova Small Bites Artemis Orijen Natures Variety |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I now feed raw, but when I fed kibble - I fed Orijen and it had no fishy smell. There is regular Orijen and Orijen 6-Fish. I think it's an incredible kibble, incredible company. Natures Variety (Instinct) would be right up there too, in my choices . If you go to Natures Variety's website, you can read about their raw there as well.
