| Merricks... How do I determine the best kind?? I'm thinking of switching my three from Canidae to Merrick. How do I determine which kind of dry will be best for them?? To those who feed/fed Merrick- What do you think?

| I used to feed mine Grammy's pot pie but on dogfoodanalysis the turducken was the best rated Merrick so that's what I'm using now.

Do you only feed Merrick? (Meaning, you don't mix anything in with it) A sidenote- can you believe the number one ingredient in turducken isn't turkey or duck?! It's chicken.

| I have never fed my two Merricks dry. I feed them the weight management (since I have a porky little boy ) natural balance right now. But I do add a teaspoon of Merricks wet Thanksgiving dinner with the dinner portion they get....they love that. I think Des (Tiger's Mom) feeds her babies the Merricks Dry....you should send her a PM she would probably be able to help ya.

I usually mix in some ground turkey and green beans or peas. Sugar has a seriously sensitive tummy though and due to diarrhea they are on dry food only right now. He'll be fine for months and then- diarrhea. I try to keep the turkey and veggies in the house for them but I also sometimes just mix in a little of whatever veggie we are eating (just not broccoli or anything that could upset Sugar's tummy) or a little fruit and sometimes a little egg.

Spike and Gracie can eat anything too. Sugar keeps me on my toes. I don't know if you remember but I spent the night of my 35th birthday at the doggie ER with Sugar for what turned out to be gas- very expensive gas.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | It kind of depends on what your goals are - i.e., are there ingredients you're trying to eliminate from the diet? Are you suspecting food allergies? How have there poos been? Are there reasons you're switching? Or, are ya just switching for the fun of it?

| Aww. I must've missed that. I'm normally out of town for the second half of December.

Kidding, kidding.. All three (especially Britney and Coral) have been itchy and Coral has thrown up a few times since Canidae changed their formula. I think we are going to try Merrick's Turducken and see how that goes.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hmmmm....if ALL three started to itch around the same time....I wouldn't think it's food related. I'd be worried about something else.... mites, fleas (which I guess would be obvious) or something. Mites you can't really see though, but are horribly itchy. Maybe take one in for a skin scraping?

| I feed Merrick both Dry and Canned. I normally use the Puppy Plate dry, and switch around with the cans. Now that they are getting older I got the Granny's Pot Pie to start on next. All Four of mine Love all the Merrick that I have tried. Their hair is softer, more shinny, and looks better since I switched. Good Luck
