| Petmate Deluxe Fresh Flow® Pet Fountain Hi everyone! So, since Chloe doesn't always drink enough water, so, I decide to buy a water fountain for her. Does anyone use it? What do you think of it? How often do I need to clean it and replace the filter? Do you think it is worth the $? Any feedback on the product is greatly appreciated! Thanks!! |

| I have had the Petmate fountains, and the pumps always go bad on them. I much prefer the Drinkwell brand fountain. The pumps are stronger and last longer and if you buy the cleaning kit, they are much easier to clean. Changing the filter depends on how many animals you have. I have four cats drinking out of one and change that filter about once every two weeks. I got my Drinkwell from Doctors Foster and Smith. My Petco/Petsmart sell the replacement filters.

| I have a silly Qs.... Do you guys turn off the water fountain at night? I don't think it is a good idea to have the motor run all day and all night?? |

| I have the Petmate Fountain and I love it!! They dogs love drinking out of it as their water is always cool and fresh. I have never had any problems with the pump. I have the Large one so I have to refill the water every two to three days with 5 dogs drinking out of it. So I clean it out every two to three days and give it a really thorough scrubbing and cleaning once every week. As for the filter, I change it every two weeks. I also have the small one for my two cats and the filter there only needs changed once a month. I keep the fountain running all the time, it doesn't seem to bother it and I want the water flowing all the time so it stays oxygenated and fresh. Oh, one other thing. The small petmate fountain comes in blue and it has a little strainer that catches hair while the big fountain comes in white and doesn't have a strainer but a flow control lever. I wish it came with a strainer like the small one because that helps a lot. Also make sure you take the pump apart once a month and clean it real good. You should give it a try, I bet you will love it!!

| The Drinkwell Platinum is even better than the Drinkwell Regular, fewer parts to clean, larger water capacity and ultra quiet. I run mine 24 x 7. Everyone loves it.

| I believe my animals all drink more with the fountain. It keeps the water fresher longer so you don't have to change it out every day. I clean my fountains once a week and change out the filters every 2-4 weeks. Cats are much dirtier around their water than my dogs are, probably because the cats shed and the hair gets into the water. The Drinkwell Platinum has an extra plastic filter that catches hair and large food particles before they get to the main filter, which means you can change the charcoal filter less often. No, I'm not a Drinkwell rep.

| My hubby isn't really a big fan of it. He got home and saw it and said to me..." Did you waste $ again?" He mentioned a point that actually was my concern also..."Would it caught on fire? If the motor runs too long while we are not home? Is it safe?" What does everyone think??? Are we just worry too much???!!! |
