Barfing after eating and whining. My Yorkie is 7 weks old. This is his second nite with me. He ate his puppy food and I put him in his crate to sleep. He spent all nite crying but I heard that was normal for the first few days, so I left him by himsself. I woke up in the morning and he was still whining and crying even after I took him out. I gave him his breakfast and I noticed he was very hungry by the way he ate so fast. He fell asleep so I left him alone for a bit, then when I came back I noticed he had barfed some of his food and when I cleaned his crate I noticed more barf. Is barfing normal for whining and barking so much after eating?

He was probably so hungry that he ate too fast and it came back up just as fast. They will cry in their crate for awhile, but they also need to be taken out periodically to pee. Their little bladders cannot hold their pee all night long. At his age, he can hold it for 3 hours, tops. So, yes, when he's peed, put him back in his crate so that he will know it's nighttime. He will eventually learn to go to sleep on his own. It will take several weeks or months for him to be able to hold his pee all night long. Good luck!

| Is he eating kibble? If so, I'm surprised that he is at that age. I had to grind ours for a couple of weeks. I added warm water and a little chicken baby food for flavor. Babies that age should eat about four times a day as well. Are you giving any Nutrical? Actually, throwing up is never a "normal" reaction.

Nutrical is a high-calorie supplement. How much does your little puppy weigh? Is it tiny? If so, I would recommend nutrical, especially to avoid hypoglycemic episodes. I would also recommend feeding 4 times a day until he's at least 12 weeks old. Sometimes their little stomachs can get so empty that they ARE sick. Keep us updated.

Are you free fedding him? Is there food down for him all the time? At that young age he needs to eat every 2-4 hours even at night. Please do not let him go all night without food. He is too young. Are you supplementing with goats milk?

When mine was a puppy, we started putting some eukanuba in a cup, then running a little bit of warm water in it. If you let it sit for a few minutes, it gets soft. I think that maybe it was easier on her stomach that way.
