| Luxating patella I've been contacted by the Yorkshire Terrier Rescue of NC today about a young dog with a knee problem. Don't know more at this stage because I'm waiting on her call. As far as I know, that's the only knee problems they have, right? I know the surgery is very expensive. Because I'm getting ready to buy a 9 month old from a good breeder next week I would like a ball park figure as to how much. Thanks guys.

| Each State is different. I had LP surgery done in NY by a Board Cert. Ortho Specialist (both reg legs at the same time) aprox. $3000 I do recall though reading that the Southern State weren't as expensive |

| my yorkie needs both his rear legs done and i am assuming that they would do one at a time. i would love to know what to expect after surgery. they said it could be 8 week recovery which seems long to me. he has very long coat and i was wondering how big incision is and did yours have to stay over nite. i really do not want to leave him but they told me he would be in intensive care unit. i would love to hear anything you have to say about this subject. |

| Post op luxating patella Hi Nicole: Just wanted to know if you had to put antibiotic ointment on incision area over stiches and how long. My vet says 4-5 times a day which I'm doing and also have her wearing a collar when I'm not around in case she starts licking it and pulls out the stiches! That would be a diaster. I don't take her to see the doctor again until October 11 at which time he will take an x-ray to see how she is doing and remove the stiches. I was also wondering if your little ones went for their stiches and if they looked healed enough after 2 weeks post op. Today is one week and the cast was removed. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Linda |

Surgery was little different for Roxy. She didn't have casts and her stitches were dissolvable. Her insicions did look very bad the first 2 weeks, but then got better from there. She didn't have an e-coller and she didn't really try to go for her legs - she has very short legs and not the easy for her to mess around with. Sorry I can't be much help with the questions you asked, but I am here if you need anything else | |
