| Your opinion or advice on Iams food My friend has a Silkie and she has TERRIBLE skin issues....her vet has her Iams Veterinary Formula Skin and Coat Response KO/Canine Dry Formula. I looked up the ingredients on dogfoodanalysis and the main ingred. is wheat. Now, why would the vet recommend this food? I'm trying to convince her to change her food to a grainless one, but she doesn't want to go against the vet's recommendation. Any advice....? This poor dog has no hair on her feet...help! |

| you are SO SO RIGHT.. IAMS is a HORRIBLE Food!!!! i see you live in hunt. beach.. we are in orange county, as well! there are MANY premium kibbles and canned foods available. if you do a search on here you will find MANY!! do you have a feed store close by you guys? that is where we buy our food.. and they carry MANY great brands of high quality food! there is a sticky at the top of this section (here's the link: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...e-samples.html) it lists a few types of higher quality kibble.. although there are a few that aren't on here! we used to feed, canidae & chicken soup for the dog lovers soul.. we are now feeding Natures Variety & The Honest Kitchen(which are RAW feeding) if you switch this baby's food.. i can guarantee you will see a change in the hair growth, etc! (not saying food is the only thing that could be causing the hair loss.. but i can almost promise you it is playing a MAJOR role!! ) let me know if you have any questions

| Thanks.....I am in the process of changing mine from Royal Canine to Wellness Core....they've been scratching alot. I now understand that Royal Canine has grain in it....and since the dogs have no fleas or other problems, I assumed it may be their food. Thanks for answering my thread....I love this site!!!! |

| What is so bad about Iams? I feed Iams and have never had a problem. Should I be looking for something new. This is my third dog on it and never a stomach/bowel issue or anything Quote:
