| Yorkie coughs This is my first posting ever. I have Sadie who is almost 6 months old. She came to me with kennel cough which was treated twice with antibiotics and seemed to completely clear up. A couple of weeks later, she began coughing sporadically. It mostly happens when she gets excited or at night in her crate. The vet wants to do an xray and cultures which means putting her under and I really would like to avoid that. I know small dogs have sensitive trachea, but is there any other solution anyone has heard of. Has anyone experienced this problem? It's not a constant thing, but it does go on pretty often throughout the day. |

| Mine too I was just about to write up the exact same posting. Nala was given anit-biotics and then coughing pills. My vet told me the same about the weak trachea's in small breeds. The pills reduced the cough, and now she's still coughing, but it's a little different. Like yours, mine coughs when she's excited like if I put a toy down for her to play with. So I'm not sure if it's a cough or a playful growl. Nala's next visit with the vet is next week. I'll keep you updated and keep tabs on this thread, I'm interested to see other's experiences. |
