| Fleas...AGAIN :( My poor baby Alfie has the fleas once again. This time it's so much worse. Whereas last time, I barely saw a flea on him. This time, I'm seeing several baby ones. I guess they are all hatching from 2 weeks ago. I've been doing everything possible to ward them off. We are fogging the place on Saturday (would do it sooner, but i need to coordinate with my roommate as well since she has a dog and cat). Is there anything else I can do besides capstar, fogging, flea baths, vacuuming, flea powder on the carpets? I got him some flea repellent spray last night, and that only smelled up the entire apartment as well as it made him so greasy I had to give him a bath to wash it off. I feel like I'm out of options. Thank you so much! |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Is there a particular reason you aren't using a preventative such as frontline on him? Since the advent of those products...our lives have been flea free. Preventatives also kill the eggs. None of the treatments you are using on him or in the house...kill the eggs. What you are seeing are new fleas that have hatched. Previously with fleas in my carpet...I treated it with boriac acid. It's a powder and routinely used in horse barns. You sprinkle it on the carpet and brush in with a wisk broom. It works almost instantly or at least overnight.

| I put Frontline Plus on Romeo every other month or so and he's doing fine. I know its the flea season right now, so there are just more fleas around. The recommended dose for Frontline is a monthly dose, but in the back of my mind I have this fear of the chemicals in the Frontline building up in his body overtime to levels of toxicity (read it somewhere about Advantage, another flea med for dogs), so I do every other month... Hope this helps...

| Please purchase Frontline for your pup. It's terrible for them to have fleas when it can be prevented. Flea's can also make him very sick. Using the fogger is dangerous, you need to leave the house for hours and the dog should never be in the house breathing that poison. Do yourself a favor and enjoy your pup flea and tick free. Purchase Frontline and never worry again. |

| Oh I totally forgot to say that I'm using Frontline Plus on him. Worked for a couple weeks, which is probably why I didn't see another on him. Woops, kinda vital info lol. Sorry! |

Next question...what are you bathing him in? Shampoos can make flea pretentative ineffective.

| I just got him a month ago, and I applied it a couple weeks ago when I first saw the fleas, flea dirt. Last night I bathed him in lemon Joy. I didn't have any Dawn around and I heard that works. So I used the Joy and saw several fleas drowning (gross). I really don't want to use the regular flea shampoo unless I really have to. |

| Capstar or Comfortis will kill the fleas within an hour. With the Comfortis they have to be 14 weeks and 5lbs though. Something like that is probably your best bet. Good luck to you.

| We are also having the same problem in our house. The fleas won't leave! We've tried the bug bombs, flea spray, frontline, boriac acid, flea and tick baths, flea collars, etc. Right now we are having to restrict the pups to the upstairs room and the cat to the downstairs bathroom just to keep them safe from the fleas.

| PLease be very careful not to overdue these flea treatment in your home. This can be deadly to animals. I would continue using the Frontline. I have bought Sentinel from the vet. I have had no problems with fleas. However, i have kept Suzi inside most of the time due to the heat.

| it took me months to get rid of fleas.. I used frontline pkus every month. when she kept getting fleas I consulter my vet and he recomended comfortis. I swear by the days end not a flea on her and I have not seen one since. I didn't even treat the house. simply gave her the pill with her food, washed her bedding and vacuumed. I HIGHLY recomend comfortis. I would suggest doing research first though as some dogs can be allergic to the beef in it.. it been almost 3 months now and not a flea (:
