| New Yorkie coming on Sept 1 Hello everyone, I will be getting my first yorkie on monday Sept.1 and I am clueless on a lot of things such as what to feed him, toys, how am I going to potty train him quick and things of that nature. I found this site and new that I would be able to get a lot of help sense this is a site for people who have the same type of dog. I really need to know what would be the best food for an 8 week old yorkie, and any other information you can give me I would greatly appericate it. |

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk You can search in the Health and Diet section to see what everyone else is feeding. A few popular kibbles are Canidae, Natural Balance, Innova, Nature's Variety, Orijen, Evo, Merricks, California Natural, Wellness and some popular canned foods are Merricks, Evangers, Canidae... Some of us also homecook or feed raw. I am not really reocmmending any of this except for homecooking (that is what I do) with the help of a nutritionist) but a couple of the foods listed above are fair. If I couldn't homecook, I would probably feed Evangers canned, California Natural kibble or Natural Balance kibble. Congrats on the new arrival.

YT Graphic Artist Donating Member | Well, you should ask the breeder what food he's currently eating now. I wouldn't change his food until he is home with you and fully adjusted to his new surroundings.

| Hi and welcome to YT. You will get lots of good advice here. As suggested, find out from his breeder what they are feeding and switch over slowly. As far as treats, mine like Zukes natural and Yorkie Yummies by another member here, Chattiesmom. I break up the treats so they don't get too much of them. As for potty training...patience and diligence, paper towels and natures miracle! Enjoy your little furball and we love to see pictures!! Congrats! See that you are from MD, I am trying to get MD'ers together sometime in the fall somewhere in Columbia or Ellicott City. Let me know if you'd be interested in coming out. B
