| How much do I feed a 12 week old? You yorkie lovers seem to know everything! On the puppy food it says 1/4 cup. Does that mean once a day or twice a day? 1/4 cup in all or 1/2 cup in all? Thanks! And please forgive my stupidity. |

| My trixie let me know. When she came home, I gave her the vitamines. She will not eat the first two days. Then the third day. She ate a handful in the morning, and a handful at night. That is it. She stops when she is full. So for my trixie, is a handful in the morning, and a handful at night. I do leave the bowl with some food, but she wont touch it. Yorkies don't eat as much as other dogs |

| Since the package isn't in front of me I really can't say for sure but usually that means that is the amount that should be given per day. You can't always trust what the company says to give though. All dogs are different. Yorkie puppies should be fed at least 3-4 times a day.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Joey's breeder recommended free feeding till the age of 8 months. Tiny dogs can use up their calorie reserves rather quickly so food should be available 24/7. Many people give Nutri-Cal, which is mainly sugar, but this can decrease the appetite for more nutritious food, and a better option, I believe, is to have food available at all times. The amount on the bag is usually the daily amount. Nutri-Cal does have it's place, but only if the dog is experiencing hypoglycemic systems and shouldn't be given as a "preventive."

| Thanks for the above replies! Can I ask what you give as reward for a puppy that young? What kind of treats do they have that are tiny? I was told to give Cheerios. |
