Baby teeth Hi, I just had a question about baby teeth. Frederick lost all but 2 canine teeth. I had an appointment scheduled to have them removed, but then the next day he lost one of them, so I waited. Now that last canine tooth still hasn't fallen out. I hate to pay so much and have him put under for just one tooth to be pulled. How long did it take your Yorkie to lose all the baby teeth? Frederick is about ten months. I was just wondering how much longer I should wait for it to come out. Thanks!!

I guess I didn't do a very good job of searching the posts before I asked my question...I didn't even see that you asked the same question! Yes, I think I'm going to wait a little while too. His breath is pretty bad and I'm sure it's from that tooth, but surely it will come out soon. I wish my vet had told me they could have been pulled whenever he was neutered.

I would wait until at least a year to see if *maybe* it will come out on it's own. Or you could possibly talk to your vet and see if it could wait until he has his teeth cleaned for the first time? Just be sure to brush his teeth good in the meantime. You may want to also look into one of the products like Liquid Oral care that you can add to his water. They cut down on plaque and freshen breath and work wonderfully!

If he is already neutered and he is 10 months old, I would schedule the appt with the vet and have it removed. My 1st pup was the same way, he was neutered at 5 months and still hadn't lost all of his teeth. I had no idea at the time that these little guys had such a hard time with their teeth. So at 7 months he had lost all but one of his baby teeth and the canine had come down right in front of it, the baby tooth wasn't going anywhere and oh man was it ever sharp! His breath was so foul, I could only imagine that it was decomposing in there. As much as I hated putting him under, I did.....and it was absolutely the best thing. He was such a happier dog afterwards, less biting, and his breath got so So SO much better. I wish my vet had told me to wait on the neuter as well, but no such luck. I feel for you, I really do. Good luck!

Well, Frederick went to the vet today for a UTI and while I was there I asked about the tooth, and the vet said that if it hasn't come out by now it needs to be removed. Of course, they probably just want my money, but I guess I'll go ahead and have it done. She said it would never come out on its own if it hasn't come out by now.
