| My baby started shedding almost a year ago... She sheds like crazZZZZyyyyy but no bald spots. 2 Vets have told me it's a side affect of her allergies...which sounds logical to me since those started about a year ago as well. Does he itch? Its not very common for Yorkies to shed so i dont really have any advice for you... Hope its is just a side affect of what hes taking and it will go away when he's off. Its very annoying because since I am always holding her or she is on my lap there is hair all over my clothes and beige couch and table and chairs.. it just seems to fly around the apt. **Sighhhh* I hope it passes... |

| One thing that I have found helps a little is... I bought a flea comb.. it really gets alot more of the loose hair out much better than a regular comb. What is the medication that hes taking? Maybe ask your vet or do a quick search to see if shedding is a side effect... |

| I would really take both your baby to the vet and have her checked. Also, if it is allergies and there is scratching their is a shot they can get. Both my Bella and Jersey have allergies and certain months I have to get them a shot to stop the scratching. Also, check their ears. Jersey gets black sludge in hers and she's now on ear med for yeast and bacteria infections secondary to the allergies. Elaine |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | He shouldn't really be shedding or losing a "baby coat". So, you should take him in and have him looked over very closely - ears, armpits, belly, between toes and toe pads, neck etcetera. I would def. have a skin scraping to rule out mange since he's still under a year. They should check for mites as well. What are you feeding and is digestion okay? Bc if this continued, I'd possibly think about malabsorption as hair loss is a symptom of malabsorption, but it's probably not the first thing I'd think of here.

Ive had her scratch tested...by 2 dif vets... my regular vet and a dermatologist/ allergy doc.... both said its allergies. We thought it was food allergies BUT I am convinced it isnt. I want to hold off on the shots and meds for as long as humanly possible.. not only so I could possibly figure out the main allergy but also cuz shes been on a lot of meds as a baby and never did well on them. When it gets REALLY bad I give her Benadryl and she sleeps for a day.. the next day it gets better. She's had 2 really bad breakouts from the allrgies and we treated those when they came up.. I really want to try to avoid constant medicine. But you should def call the vets office and just check.. maybe the assistant or nurse can help you... you should prob have him tested.. its very quick and wasnt painful for her... they just scratch off a little peice of skin, I dont think she even noticed it the first time. | |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I mean - are stools of normal consistency/color or is there diarrhea/mucous/blood/mushiness/grainy-ness or an odd color; or, is there constipation? Are poos nice and firm?

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Our Mandy went from having a beautiful coat to losing clumps of hair at about 2 years old. Could find a problem. They finally found she was allergic to fleas so now Advantage every three weeks, Nu-Salt Shampoo, Relief conditioner, V3 oil everyday. If I keep that up she is fine. I ran out of Advantage and forgot to get more to things popping up and Mandy lost lots of hair for the first time in three years. I will never forget again. She will grow it back but if was really beautiful....

| Its a good thing you were able to isolate the one cause... I hope to be able to do that because as for right now her allergy test came back with everything under the sun... I dont even kno what some of the allergens are and cant find if they are in my area. Hope the OP's baby gets some relief too... |
