| Spaying issues Well thanks to the lovely advice... I decided to spay my lil Asia... I felt (feel!) horrible for what she's going through but I know that it is what's best for her. Now.... we just got home from the vet and she HATES the collar... it is driving her crazy and she is trying to PRY it off with her two little paws as if it was something she could easily push off.... I feel so bad for her... she tried to go about her daily routine and wanted to chew on her favorite bone... but couldnt! Because she couldnt hold it with her paws and chew.... She's miserable! What can I do to make her 14 days less restritive? and painful? Is there another way to prevent her licking the wound w/o the collar? Thanks so much for all the advice! I really appreciate it!!!

| You don't have to use the cone. Just go buy a baby onesie and put it on her. If she tries to get through the incision through it you will need to go back to the cone. Someone on YT suggested that the onesie should be put on backwards (so the snaps are on her back, not her belly). This way the snaps don't irritate the incision and you can unsnap, bring around and resnap on top when she needs to use the bathroom. Is she on pain med?

Good idea on the snapping on back, izzy's incision was so high up on her tummy (she's small) that the onesie snapped closers to her butt. Pain meds... man i hope she has them!!! Good luck.. go with the onesies!

| Gracie was spayed 2 weeks ago, and she didn't need a cone. She didn't bother her stitches at all. She was licking her leg where they had to shave her for the IV but not her tummy. She also was only 'down' for about 2 days. Then it was back to business as usual. slow down girl! I'd give it a try and she if she'll bother the stitches. I'm betting she probably won't too much. And you can always do the onesies to keep her away from the stitches. I'm sure she'll be much happier in them then the cone.

| They recover fairly quickly. Mimi didn't use the cone and she didn't pick at her incision either. The stiches were not visible so that was great. My vet actually stitched it and then glued it and they desolved on their own. I think she was down for about 2 days the she was fine but I still restricted her from jumping up and down. Thank goodness she's a calm furbaby and normally relaxes all day anyway. Its the best thing you did for her and she'll be fine in no time. |

| Thanks! Thank you so much for sharing!!! I feel so much better about putting my lil Asia through this, knowing so many of you went through the same thing.... I will find the onesies.... My Asia isn't quite potty trained... she uses the puppy pads but I have no idea when she has to go (other than in the morning and before bed)... what do I do about the onesie?
