Donating YT Addict | Anyone use Probiotics? Ozzy has been having loose mucosy stool for the last few weeks and after much back and forth with stool samples, giardia tests, antibiotics and bland diet my vet gave me some probiotics. His poop firmed right up and he loves the taste of it. (He is also on another round of metrodizole.) The vet said use the probiotics once a day for 2 weeks. I was thinking of keeping him on it for maintenance after the 2 weeks but am unsure what the dose should be. Does anyone else use them regularly and if so how often? Thanks!!

| I would ask the vet. Not all probiotics are created equal. Alot of dog probiotics seems to be mixed with digestive enzymes too. I personally used to take 8 million units but realized that was not nearly enough. Now i take 50 million units. Your vet could recommend based on what he thinks is causing the problem. I would do a search and kinda research some of the products and then narrow it down to a few then ask the vet |

| Well if you vet gave it to you you should be ok! Enterococcus faecium SF68 must be the most healthy abundant organism in the dog gut! I would just follow the directions. I believe the gut is the gateway to health. If you organism are happy you are happy..lol |

| I don't use probiotics but the ingredient list you posted caught my attention, particularly the animal digest. You should google 'animal digest' to see what it is (prepare to be grossed out). There are many brands of probiotics that don't use this stuff. You may want to check them out. |

Donating YT Addict | Thanks Diggy. I only see tablets..I wonder if it comes in a powder. Oz is a hard sell when it comes to pills/tablets, even if they're chewable

| I just feed my girls yogurt every morning for breakfast and let them get their probiotics naturally. We use with Stoneyfield Organic Low-fat or Dannon Naturals Low-fat (vanilla or plain). A heaping spoonful is what they get and they love it!!!!

| It would take a lot of yogurt to get the amount of probiotics in the capsules, but I do agree that yogurt is a good way to get some probiotics
