Yorkie Yakker | Saying hello! Just wanted to say hi, i just joined today. My yorkie is almost 4 months old and we love him. I have a few questions, I want to change his food that he is on to something else. Bailey eats Eukanuba puppyfood but I've heard so many bad things about the food though he seems to like it, but i've noticed he is a little itchy, not crazy itchy just scratches sometimes. I tried Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lovers Soul, but it made his stools really loose. Does anyone use Natures Recipe? |

| When I got Roxy & TJ they were eating a very little amount of boiled chicken 2x a day and dry Eukanuba. I noticed they were itching a lot and I too heard from YT that Eukanuba is not so great. So now, they eat Innova dry for puppies, they still get a very little amount of boiled chicken 2x a day. I also mix in a few small cubes of Natural Balance (rice and lamb) meat roll. Sometime I use a fine cheese shredder and I shread that meat roll ontop of some Innova dry (they lick it right up!) For snacks they get Mother Hubard puppy biscuits, small frozen apple bits and for potty training purposes honey nut cherrios. They like it all...the only problem I run into is that TJ likes to chew and eat things (wall, couch, paper, etc.) So I really have to watch him, unfortunately he always finds something and then his tummy and poop problems. Good Luck! |

| Welcome !!!! Just be careful when changing food with your puppy it is hard on them and you should (if you are not already) be mixing the new food with the old food as to wean them. Start with a 80/20 blend then go to 60/40 ect.. when change their diet it will give them lose stools unless you take them off gradually. For itchy skin you can also introducing Brewers Yeast, this has omegas to help with their coats and skin. One other thing that can cause itchy skin is bathing, dilute your shampoo down, rinse well and use conditioner. We all bath are yorkies often, due to the fact they have a coat similar to our hair. But the shampoos can dry out their skin and cause them to itch. We are glad you joined and will be looking forward to your posts.

| Welcome to you and your new fur baby. Glad to see you join YT. Regarding changing foods, just do it gradually and that should eliminate any loose stools.

| I used to use Eukanuba. We switched to Royal Canin Puppy and Yorkshire Terrier for the 2 year old. They both LOVE it.
