| yes, a raw diet is the best thing you can feed most dogs...the only ones you wouldn't want to feed a raw diet would be immunocompromised dogs as they might not be able to handle the bacteria like normal dogs would. There are many threads on feeding raw in the health & diet section...just search "raw feeding, raw diet, etc". Many many of us feed our yorkies raw. I've been feeding raw for 2 years now with great results. I would never go back to kibble.

| This is a controversial topic - however, based on my mom's experience and knowledge - I decided to fee Bailey a raw diet. It includes lean hamburger, turkey, cooked rice, cooked eggs, vegetables, bone meal, etc. I feed Bailey only human-grade ingredients. I started this diet when she was about 5 mos old - because she wasn't eating any dog food and because I was concerned about the quality of the dog food. Good luck!

| Many swear by feeding raw. To each their own preference. I personally am not comfortable with the thought of feeding uncooked meat and feed home cooked, kibble and supplements and am confident that mine are getting the nutrition they need. |

| I feed my five raw, prey model. I too, would never go back to kibble. It is a little more work than putting kibble in a dish, but my dogs are worth it!!! I really enjoy feeding them this way. It's so much fun to watch them eat and enjoy it so much. IMO!! I have the pre made on hand right now for emergencies but for me, the cost would be prohibitive with my gang. I just had surgery on my foot and for the first couple days I had my son give the dogs the medallions just to make it easier on him. Now they are back on the raw meat. |

| Can Raw Meat Be Good To Feed? I'm a prey model raw feeder by conviction! The reason being that domesticated dogs may have been changed by humans in matter of looks and size but the nutritional needs of a carnivore have been established thousands of years ago and remain unchanged. However, just tossing a dog some raw hamburger every once in a while is NOT recommended, especially if the dog is mainly kibble fed. Neither is mixing cooked and raw elements as those digest at different rates. Not EVERY so called raw diet is ideal and can be downright dangerous. Prey model raw feeders do not feed kibble or grains, veggies, fruit or supplements that dogs can't even properly utilize or even need. We strive to mimic nature as close as possible by feeding raw meaty bones, raw whole fish and raw whole eggs. There are many, unsubstantiated myths and warnings surrounding a species appropriate diet!
