| Eating OTHER DOGS poop!!!!! :( Hello everyone! I'm new to Yorkie Talk. My mom has been on this site with my baby, "her granddog" for one year. I love my sweety but she has started a new thing that worries me. It started when we went on an average visit to see another yorkie in the neighborhood and she suddenly decided to attack one spot in the grass like it was the best snack in the world. I was astonished to find that it was poop! I then saw her eating her own shortly after that. My mom received great advice on that issue when she posted a question about it on yorkie talk. She has since stopped eating her own!!! However, she still has an interest in the feces of other dogs. Which I know could cause major health concerns. Does anyone have any advice on how to keep her from doing this? I have checked her diet and she eats Heathy Choice Select. It has all kinds of vitamins, protein, everything a sweet doggy needs. So I don't think its her food! Any help????? |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Well, the only real way I can think of to keep her from eating *other* dogs poo is to keep her away from it. Do you mean like in dog parks? If so, I'd keep her away for awhile so that she doesn't have it available so readily. Also, if you are around other poo - keep her on leash and if she goes to eat poo, you'd have to tell her a firm "no!" and pull her away from that area.

| I just recently moved to Atlanta and I live in a Townhouse Complex. Some people don't clean up after their dogs, they just hide it under leaves, pine needles, etc... Its so hard to tell where it is. Mika seems to catch me off guard when she seems to be sniffing for a good spot and instead takes a nibble into the ground. I always catch her one step too late and give her the firm no, but I don't know. I thought maybe there was another trick or someone else who might have experienced a problem with there pet such as this. I guess I will have to continue trying to stay one step ahead of her. |

I Love My Babies Donating Member | I have seen a post simular to this one before. And if I remember right.. someone suggested changing their food. There may be something she is missing... A good idea would be to talk to your Vet and see what he/she has to say. Good luck and Welcome to YT.
