| Do you brush your dogs teeth? I hadnt done this yet until today. I have always just fed them hard food and given them occasional dental chews but since our boxer is 3 1/2 now, my husband and I decided we should start brushing all thier teeth. SO i bought the stuff and attempted it. CHloe wanted to have nothing to do with this, and I had to give up right away with her. Tinkerbells licked the toothbrush everytime I tried to come near her mouth. And Penny(my boxer) drooled the whole time and got everythign slimy and licked it alot. But she was my best patient. It was really hard. I know this was just the first time. Does anyone else brush thier dogs teeth? How often? ANy pointers?

| I brush my dogs every other day cause I hate dog breath. Recon does the same thing as your boxer. I really dont have any tips. Kinda try every which way you can and find one that works for you. |

| Start them off with the soft little brush that goes over your finger and move to the other brush only when they are used to the soft other brush! Also let them have a little lick "accept" the toothpaste before you try brushing with it. This helped for me.

| I occassionally use the tooth wipes, or give Archie breath bisquits. He's got good teeth, but I think it's because he chews balls. |

I saw the finger brush. Thanks I think I will try this. I did the lick thing first because the instructions say to do that. And trust me, they did ALOT of licking. I couldnt get them to stop. It was actually a funny experience today

| At first none of my dogs wanted anything to do with the toothbrush/fingerbrush itself. But they did love the beef flavored toothpaste. I give them Pig ears (I heard it's great for their teeth) I also have this toy that's kind of like a fleece material that really cleans their teeth. I still brush their teeth though (I cannot stand poo breath or Oreo's hiddeous breath) |

| I started with a normal dog toothbrush. Just recently I tried the soft toothbrush that goes over your finger. Baxter has gotten to the point where he will let me do this Chloe will not (she is the puppy). It just takes time for them to get used to it. Once it becomes a routine, they will be fine. I also use Dental Fresh by Synergy Labs. It REALLY helps! You just add it to their water. Baxter's breath was TERRIBLE not too long ago. I started using this and it smells great now! It removes plaque and tartar and freshens breath. I like to use it because I am sure that I don't get their teeth brushed perfectly. This is just an extra precaution.

| flossies and wysong dentatreat hi there! i used to use the slip on brush to clean his teeth but he REALLY despised it and ended up licking off the toothpaste before i could brush all his teeth! he's more apt to let me brush by putting some paste on my finger and brushing gently but just on the outside of his teeth. anyway, our local pet boutique recommended wysong's dentatreat. it's a powder that looks and supposedly tastes like parmesan cheese. you can either brush directly on the teeth or just sprinkle on top of his food (i try to do it once a day -- usually around dinner time). he also goes nuts for flossies -- he can go through one in a day or two and i think that also helps keep his teeth pretty clean... good luck! irmi & mojito |
