| Confused..which shampoo to use w/Frontline?? Which shampoos are okay to use with Frontline? When we picked up this month's dose for Gizmo, I mentioned to the vet's nurse that we saw a tick crawl off of him at his most recent bath! The nurse told us that we're probably using the wrong shampoo and that hurts the effectiveness. Okay, so which ones are okay? What about conditioners? We've been using Pantene. I know..human shampoo..but it works really well. But I don't want ticks or fleas on my Gizzimoto! Thanks in advance.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Got me....I'd love to know. That's the first I've ever heard of that. I just thought you had to wait 24 hours after or before bathing them.

| Me too. We get it month by month, so I've never actually seen the box.

| All I found when I googled it was that it had to be a "soap free" shampoo. Okay, what the heck is that??

| Thanks! I just don't want to spend that if it's not working for him any more. If we're still having trouble after I figure out the shampoo thing, we might have to change to another kind.

I immediately thought of that spray dry shampoo stuff they sold years ago. Like spraying your head with powder...instant static electricity...hair stood straight on end. Still clueless but my dogs say if that means NO BATHS all summer...YIPPEE!!

| Most shampoos formulated for dogs are soap free so they won't interfere with flea control products. Using human hair products on your dog can wash off the flea control. This is Buddy Wash shampoo's ingredients to give you an example: Buddy Wash Shampoo - Lavender & Mint Scented - 19 ounces Deodorize, moisturize and rejuvenate your pet’s coat with Buddy Wash Shampoo made with pure, all natural ingredients and botanical extracts. Specially formulated using coconut oil, aloe vera and vitamin E to provide a soothing, healing and non-irritating bathing experience for your pet. This gentle, light and refreshing shampoo uses herbs and natural oils to freshen and deodorize your pet’s coat without using chemicals or additives. Soap free formulation yields a rich and fluffy lather, yet rinses away easily. Buddy Wash is not tested on animals and is safe for human use. |

No Longer a Member | I have tried my way thru a lot of the flea drops on my vets shelf. They have all worked pretty well til Giz and Bubba have their first bath afterward. It's like it washes it all off. Have started using the Adams flea shampoo. Supposed to have a residual? We'll see. I know their spray works well but Bubba is 5 mos and probably too young for it. It's very easy here in TX for the fleas to get ahead of you. Seems to be a never ending fight. How much is this Capstar pill? and how long does it work? Best of luck everyone. |

| I don't know about the Capstar. I need to look into it. Hey, did you see the thread about the Central Texas meetup in August? We would love to see you there. Here's a link to the thread. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sou...-16th-1pm.html

YT 1000 Club Member | My sister in law works for a very good groomer in Florida. When I got Roxie she really helped me out with alot of things. She put together a care package for me with all kinds of stuff in it that we should use including shampoo. It's worked wonderfully and I've had no problem with it washing off Roxie's Advantyx and she's been bathed 2-3 times since I put it on her. I use Bio-Groom So-Gentle hypo-allergenic tearless shampoo. I've been using it on her since she was a puppy and it's never irriated her skin. But....I was using human conditioner on her and that was making her itch like crazy. So I found a good puppy cond. called Spa Vitamin Conditioner. Her skin is very healthy and no bugs or itchies. I can see where human shampoos can strip off your flea preventative. I'm a hairstylist and I know some shampoos can strip off any color you might use on your own hair. |

| I went on frontline's website a few weeks ago and they have a short video of how to apply it. Anyway, the woman on the video said that after around 24 hours, the product has absorbed into their sweat glands and that it's ok to wash them. She didn't say anything about having to use a specific shampoo. So I just use Earthbath and so far, so good! HTH! |
