| Question about Nature's Variety Raw??? We have been feeding NV Raw Medallions since early March and have no intention of switching - w/that said I am wondering for anyone who feeds it do you rotate the flavor w/every feeding or do you stick to one bag and when that one is done you go to another? My gang eat Rabbit, Lamb and Venision - I always have two bags open at a time. I feed say Rabbit in the A.M. and then Lamb in the P.M. until I am done w/those bags. Does anyone else do that or do you stick to one flavor at a time? Thanks for any info you can offer!!!! Amie

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Amie - I think the way you're doing it is IDEAL!! I usually do one flavor bag at a time, but ONLY bc Marcel can be picky - so we always have to go through an adjustment period when switching flavors (which is why I can't mix it up all the time, as I'd prefer). If I could, I'd do it exactly as you are!!

| I have a question? My vet said NOT to give my baby raw, he said they have seen so many cases of E-coli from this. Buttons is 2.5 yrs and 6#'s. Has anyone out there had this problem? Is it the way the food is being hndled? I was told that if I do feed raw you have to be very careful how you handle it. Can anyone help me out here, I have heard such favorable things about raw and am now not sure which way to go.

I never thaw mine out on the counter, I leave it in the fridge to thaw and I feed them on paper plates and I also use plastic disposable utensils to cut it up. So everything is disposable - and I alway's wash my hands after feeding them. There are so many people here at YT that feed Raw wether its pre-made raw or full raw diet and I am not sure that I have heard yet of anyones pet getting E-coli. I think alot of the times these vets love to put the fear of god in us! You do what you think is best - I am so happy since I switched and will never go back unless I absolutely had!!!

| We rotate the same 3 and always have 2 bags open. Jamie gets bored really fast so we do lamb every other day and then either rabbit or venison on the opposite days depending on which on we bought that month.

| I rotate all the time too. I figure if dogs in the wild eat different types of food every day...so can mine. |

| Ive feed NV raw and Ive never had any issue with E coli. From what Ive learned and seen I believe there is no fear of E coli if you treat the food with the same precautions youd use when handling food for yourself. As for their digestive track itself it is a stronger and shorter than ours and should not get sick from raw. Unfortuntally Vets no NOTHING about diet. Its just not taught correctly, which is a SHAME. So Im ranting agian..... |
