| Dangerous vaccines? Nessesary Vaccines? Ok I thought vaccines were vaccines. I didn't know there could be a dangerous vaccine. I've been reading that the Leptoperosis can cause liver failure in yorkies. Is there anything else I need to be cautious of? Do I vaccinate for Parvo, corona? Thanks everyone! |

| My Vet My vet NEVER gives Lepto to Yorkies! She said that Lepto is necessary for hunting dogs (or other ones that are out in deep nature) and not for an indoor yorkies. A friend of ours had a tiny (1.5lbs) yorkie that had the severe reaction to the Lepto vaccine and almost died. Her story convinced me not to take the chance with the Lepto vaccine. As for the kennel cough vaccine, I have never heard of any problems with it? |

It's a Yorkie Thing Donating Member | I give Galaxy 5 way shot, I never give a 7way with Lepto. I also do not give kennel cough since my pups are not in kennels or go to groomers. I give my pups thier 1st shot a 6 weeks and then two more each 4 weeks apart from one another. Good luck!

| I have to vaccinate for bordetella because we travel a lot with our dogs, live in a condo building with LOTS of other dogs here, and occasionally have to leave our dogs at Doggie Hotels (unfortunately, we don't take the boys when we travel out of the US) I've never had a problem with it, but I guess it just depends.... |

| If you decide to get the Bordatella, make sure it's the injection, NOT the nasal. The nasal variety seems to cause the most problems and it actually made my Luna sick when she got it as part of her puppy vaccines She just got the injectable one a few weeks ago (my vet is against the nasal one) and she did just fine with it this time. I take my girls to a groomer, so they have to get it.

| No one commented on the corona. See I already bought all their shots including nasal bordetella, the 5 way, corona, parvo, deworming Has anyone else had bad effects with the nasal bordetella? I've never heard of bordetella injection. |

My dog reacted to her vaccines once (probably the lepto). She collapsed and went into shock. Lepto should be avoided if at all possible. It has killed Yorkie puppies.
