| If you homecook for your dog, you have to supplement in order for it to be balanced for him/her. They need calcium in much higher amounts than people and cottage cheese or yogurt does not contain enough. I use eggshells for calcium. There are other things that should be added as well. For my healthy maltese, I use Dr. Pitcairn's Healthy Powder Mix which you make yourself. If you do a search, you should be able to find it. As far as foods, stay away from anything fatty...No turkey/chicken skin, nothing with seasonings, salt, etc. No raisins, grapes, onions. I stay away from pork, processed meats, etc. I also stay away from tomatoes. Good foods include: chicken breast, ground turkey, white fish, most vegetables (peeled white potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, green beans, squash, zucchini, etc.), oats, pasta(no sauce), rice (brown or white), and a bunch more.

| I totally agree, you need to supplement for thing like calcium and essential fatty acids. A multi vitamin is also good. |
