| Cough?? Lily has started to choke and cough and it seems to happen when she gets excited or stressed?? She did it on the table at the vet last week when she got her shot and the vet said it might be because the shot hurt her but since then I have noticed her doing it sometimes during the day? We have had alot of rain and damp weather so I wondered if there is something wrong with her that I should be paying more attention to?? |

| Has she been vaccinated for Bordatella? The vaccine can cause coughing (kennel cough) and not having them vaccinated can cause it. It could be reverse sneezing if it sounds like she is choking. If the vet heard it and didn't think anything of it, she is probably fine but since it has continued, if she is coughing, she needs to be seen.

| She sounds just the same as she did on the table at the vet right after the shot!! Could a shot react that fast?? I will call the vet and ask exactly what was in her shot maybe. We live in the country and the vet I go to is a "country girl vet" she works on horses and EVERYTHING!!lol She has a little poodle herself and seems to know what she's talking about with Lily?? I thought about the kennel cough myself after reading things on here and with the weather the way it has been since I have got her. She is a trooper going outside to potty pretty much though but we have had alot of rain and I hope it hasn't made her sick?? |

It could be kennel cough. Does she have nasal discharge? Are you sure it isn't reverse sneezing? Have you been using a harness or a collar?

| This is reverse sneezing: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/my-...-sneezing.html If you aren't sure, I'd see a vet.

| My Jewels honks when she gets excited and it is reverse sneezing. It is always best to have it checked though because it could be collapsed trachea or kennel cough also

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | Mine have been doing it ever since the warm weather hit. I am chalking it up to allergies and drainage. Its a very dry cough and usually they wake up doing it and a quick trip up and moving they are fine. Bella does the reverse sneeze when she sees me pull in the driveway.... Hope its nothing major! you got some great advice here good luck

| Ok what we do is, first we gentle massage his throat and with one finger up and down which usually stops immediately if he's still doing it then we cover the tip of his nose with our finger tip. Hope this helps and remember to be gentle and calm. also want to tell you that he's been doing it a since we got him 2 1/2 years ago but now he does it allot less. Hug's to your little one.

| My little girl is 10 weeks old and she started to gag/cough they did not say she has kennel cough more like a irritated throat doc said she may have a bug so he put her on clavamax which is not really helping, we see him on Tuesday again if anything gets worse we will go back. Its really scary!! The sound she also does this when she gets excited too.
