| Black Fly Bites!!!! Help! Darwin is being eaten alive by black flies! We are in the upper pennisula of Michigan, and he has been getting bites for 2 days straight. They look like red blood blisters at first, then after about a day, they drain and look like red rings. I've been putting burt bee's natural insect repellent on him, but he's still getting bitten. Does anyone have experience with this, and is there anything else I can do to avoid more bites? I'm not even 100% sure that it is black fly bites...poor pups. |

| If you're in the U.P....they are black flies. I heard they are horrible this year. I have been up there during the bad times and haven't ever found anything to use that makes a difference. We ended up spending a lot of time inside...and from now on go in the fall. Good Luck to you... Where are you visiting?

| We are in Paradise, MI, about an hour and a half north of the Mackinaw bridge. It's beautiful, we're really trying to enjoy our week away in the woods, but the black flies have no mercy! I'm also very paranoid about ticks and fleas too...can't stop worrying! |

| You might want to try a fly repelant made for horses. They usually have instructions on them for use on dogs. I use bronco fly repellant ( made for horses) on my other dogs when they are outside. Captain Jack is still to young for it.
