I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | It's weird because they seem to have such a strong odor when we first got them, but I bought a years supply and now coming up on the second half of the year, they don't smell very much at all. We live in AZ and it's very dry, I think that may have something to do with it.

| Well maybe you could take her outside to eat it. Sometimes mine with have there sticks on the patio. That way it keeps them busy and out of trouble. Other then chasing each other.

| Yes they do stink. But, I really am more at ease with them chewing on a bully stick then raw hide. I am so afraid of one of mine getting choked. |

| Yeah, I know. I bought her a medium size raw hide so she can't get pieces off that easy, but she tries. I keep a close eye on her when she chews it and i never put it in her crate.

They could actually choke on either, but the main difference is bully sticks are 100 percent digestible and will not cause intestinal blockage. Rawhide is not, although they are making some that claims to be. It is pulverized and than shaped back into a bone, and it said to be safer than traditional rawhide I can't remember the name for the process, and don't know if it's been tested.

| Mine is just a bone with knots on the end like a regular bone. If that makes sense. and it's white. There's no way that she could get it soft enough to swallow it only if she chewed it for a long time. But i still watch her when she chews it. I use to get them all the time for my boston terrier when she was younger (she's 15 now) and she got them soft real fast and she choked on them and i never got her anymore.

That's a raw hide, not a bully stick, and yes they do get soft enough to chew and swallow. But they don't always break down in the intestine and some dogs have had to have surgery to remove a blockage. The same isn't true for Bully Sticks which do break down.

| Yeah, I bought the Bully Stick today and that's what stinks. That's why I bought the Bully Stick today because I was afraid to give her the raw hide.

| Hehe they do smell a little but they are bull PENIS so what do you expect? I put up with it bc it's something that keeps my baby busy but won't make her sick. I would never give her rawhide. One time when I took Abbey on the plane with me, I took a bully stick for her to chew on to keep her busy...oh boy, I don't think the people around me appreciated it.
