| Lets talk poop So Meeko has been on Canidae ALS for about 4 months now and has been doing great. His coat seems shinier and healthy, and his skin isn't as dry. The only problem is his poop stinks!! It's horrible. I've read other thread about puppy's poop having no smell. For those of you whose poop doesn't smell, what kibble are you feeding your pup? I want to stick with a healthy, good quality food.

| When I fed a raw diet their poop didn't stink. I don't know of any kibble that produces a stink free poop.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I've actually never smelled his poop. Do you put it close to your nose, or do you mean you can smell it from far away?

| lol eeww! No I definitely don't hold it to my nose to smell it. I can smell it when it's on the pee pad. Or when we're outside and I pick it up with the bag to throw it away.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I'm sorry, that was pretty stupid of me, but honestly, I've never been able to smell one of Joey's. His are pretty firm, almost like tootsie rolls, I would think the greater the moisture the more the smell. I was told years ago, that the easier it is for a human baby to digest something the less the poop stinks. Breast-fed babies who have no other food have good smelling poop, much like applesauce, and it's not firm. I don't know if the same thing applies with fur babies, but it may mean your dog isn't completely digesting the food, and some is actually rotting.

fresh poop is the worst.. but i think think the raw food diet is a good idea... and home cooking is what i do... kibble is always available though... and the worst is stepping in it.. avoid this at all cost

| Winston along with my 2 shih tzus are all on canidae. Unfortunately, I have to say that their poop does smell at our housel!! I wish I could get some of those none smelling kinds, but at least it is firm, and does look like tootsie rolls as Nancy1999 said earlier!! The one thing I did notice though when I first switched the Shih tzus to canidae was extremely stinky gas. They had never had stinky ones before, and after being on it for about 7 months now, I can say they don't have it now...Thank goodness!

YT 500 Club Member | Sophie is on Royal Canin Adult 27, and I don't think it smells too bad. She does go outdoors though, and she is on a long leash. So I don't get very close. The only time it is bad is if she has an upset tummy. She also does not have gas unless she is not feeling good.
