One of mine lost his manhood last week, but not Luca Dean --- yet. I was given Deramaxx, a common painkiller. It makes my lab mix sleepy when she takes it. (She recently had stones in urine). Now, the crazy-hyper terrier mix I have ran up and down the hallways chasing shadows the same night he came home from being neutered. (He normally does this; it's how he gets rid of extra energy). We were kind of shocked. So, we didn't think he needed the pain meds, Deramaxx or otherwise. My sister-in-law gives her dog tylenol -- one xtra strength for 55lbs. I would talk to vet about tylenol or some children's meds. Deramaxx will probably knock a yorkie out. He'll probably be up and running the second day. Just watch to make sure he doesn't chew on the stitches -- licking is ok, but chewing is not.

It depends. Does Toby need any of his baby teeth pulled while he is there? If so, he will definitely need pain medication. Otherwise, I'm not sure. Bentley had lots of baby teeth pulled (he had double teeth pretty bad) and was in a lot of pain from that, he didn't really notice the neuter.

he will be five months when he gets neutered....... what age do the teeth fall otu again??? ive been checking and playing LOTS of tug o war trying to get them loose, but i havent noticed any falling out...... when i go to the vet that morning i will mention it to the doctor and see what he says, i have also heard of people using childrens tylonol as well.........again, i will talk this all over with the vet when i take him in...... Oh, i forgot to mention......... my fiance and i are going to make a "day of it" when toby gets neutered......... we will drop him off at 830 AM and then we will hang out in teh area until 3 (it is an hour drive each way........so it would be pointless to go home)..... SO, while toby is at the vet we will go to the nearest petsmart and buy him new toys and new "stuff" (this is therapy for me because i feel bad for him) ..... and we will go find other places to hang out and wait....... So.... anyways........ what age do the teeth start to fall out, and do you think he will need teeth pulled when he is five months???

Luca Dean's just started falling out a week or so ago, and he's exactly 23 weeks old today. He was a late bloomer too -- his coat has hardly started to break silver and the lighter golds. His second testicle finally came down last week -- we were worried he would have to be neutered and the vet would have to go deeper ("fishing he said") to find it. There have been a few forums on teething here recently and a lot of our babies are teething right now!

yeah i did a search........ the age to get them pulled seems to be around the time that toby goes in, so i will have to look into it..... if he does get them pulled i will deffinatly get the pain meds....... i would be mortified if the vet made cracks about "fishing" for tobys manhood, im allready nervous enough and it is a month away!!! dont throw fish into the equation......lol

I'm not sure when the baby teeth normally fall out as very few of Bentley's came out on their own. I remember around Thanksgiving time (he would have been almost 6 months) there was a very weird odor coming from Bentley's mouth. That is when I noticed his grown up teeth were coming in and his baby teeth hadn't falled out, thus causing him to have double teeth. Once I saw this I hurried up and scheduled the neuter so he could get the teeth out as well. Hopefully Toby's will fall out on their own.
