| Aynabelle makes me nervous!!!! I NEED YA'LLS HELP! i just got my baby girl Aynabelle on mothers day . i already own a pomerainian and have had no problems with her so far she's 18 months. although aynabelle is a different story. she is 6 months old i got her at 5 months of age. i read everything there is about yorkies in books but im still nervous. she recently fell off the couch while sleeping and was wobbling and had bobble head. i rushed her to the vet and they told me she had head trauma. she was given a shot of dexamethasone as well as oral dex to take for 4 days. she is better now but that dosen't mean i'm not still a nervous wreck about something happening to her. my vet said she was a little too old for hypoglacemia? I'M TURNING TO MY FELLOW YORKIE OWNERS FOR ADVICE AS WELL AS HELPFUL TIPS FOR CARING FOR HER AND THINGS I NEED TO WATCH FOR TO KEEP HER HEALTHY.... FEEDING, ILLNESSESS, GENETIC DISEASES, ECT. PLEASE HELP ME OUT YORKIE TALK!!!

| Welcome to YT!! I would suggest that she is not too old for hypoglycemia so please make sure she eats and drinks all day long. If she gets lethargic, give her some sugar water or syrup or nutrastat if you got that from the breeder. How much does she weigh?? I would also suggest just going through all the threads on here and read up on everything that has already be posted. There is a ton of great information here on those topics you listed! Good luck with your baby and i am glad she is ok after falling off the couch. Maybe you need to keep her on the floor! |

When he was a puppy we added sugar to his water and for a while gave him a little nutrical every day because he was so tiny and we didn't want to have any problems. Good luck

| How is Aynabelle today? I know you mentioned that she fell off the couch while sleeping so this doesn't have anything to do with that. Just wanted to say that I have ramps up to all my couches and also our bed. My couch ramps are just foam wedges with a towel over it for traction. Also to keep my 1 yr. old Pommie from eating it. Actually the ramps came into being because of the Pommie. He is a rescue Pommie and has bad knees that need to be corrected this summer. He is a beautiful 6.5 lb white Pomeranian. Has a multitude of food allergies but we have that under control. He is the happiest velco-baby ever.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Hope your baby is ok now. Whenever I bring a new puppy in to my home we teach them to use the ramps we have by the beds. They learn really quick and no matter how excited they get they use the ramps. Like 4doggiemama said I cover the foam ramp so that they don't eat it and have a blanket over it for traction. I have a pom who is 10lbs and never learned to use the ramps or jump on or off furniture as she was older when we got the ramps for the yorkies so I just pick her up and down. The best thing to do is make sure theyknow how to properly get down before they are allowed up on any thing.

| Sorry I haven't been around... had another problem. well after the bump onthe head was taken crare of, anyabelle got sick again. Sunday night Aynabelle woke me around 3:00am vomiting and with runny stool. she was sick and was dehydrating fast. the vomit was yellow and foamy and the feces was yellow and gloopy(detailed just n case any one elses' baby gets these symptoms). unfortunatley our vet was on vacation(our luck), so we took her to the on call vet. After a blood test and a fecal sample(couldn't get any stool sample) the vet said her white blood was low indicating a virus. She gave us some Sucralfate for the vomiting and Albon for the virus she had along with several cc's of iv fluid injected under her skin and sent her home with strict no eating for 24 hours n lots a rest!! We kept watch over her like hawks and even let her sleep in the bed(never do this!!) and a woke several times during the night for med's, potty, drink, ect.. Happy to say that this morning she is great! eating playing and her normal self. we still are keeping a close eye ad still giving med's. im' grateful she is okay!!
