| New puppy owner and he won't eat much. Okay, this is my first yorkie and I am not sure if it's normal of this breed but my puppy will not eat much. i'll have a handful of dry food out for him and he'll finish about half each meal. is that normal? i know yorkies are small and he won't each a lot, but i'm just a little concerned that he's not eating enough. I have him on Royal Canine for puppies. |

| Whe I got my first pup he would not eat unless I fed him one nugget at a time by hand.....I was elated when he ate about a tablespoon for me........This went on for months......They must eat or they can get hypoglycemia and that can be dangerous.... Did you try chicken breast?.....I know some people don't like to do "people" food but if that's what works......

| its normal for them to not wanna eat. maybe he's just stressed cuz u just got him. anyway this site will help u not wanna slit ur wrists. they helped me wen i just got my abby. god she wudn't eat n now 2.5 months later she still wont eat much but like everyone says they are just sooooo small. i think they shud eat 1/10 of their weight a day. soo figure if he's 2lbs, then he should eat like an ounce or two of food a day (i'm really bad w math so forgive me if im wayyyyyyy off) just make sure to keep him hydrated n give him nutrical if he's not eating to keep his sugar levels up. give him lots of hugs n kisses. it will get better... try the boiled chicken tho |

YT 1000 Club Member | I went through this with KiKi too when I got her...and all I learned on YT really helped!! She has had problems with low blood sugar too (hypoglocemia)...but we seem to have that under control now.... I give her wet food 2 -3 times a day (Merril - Puppy plate)....about 1 tsp each time and I leave out Royal Canine puppy kibble for her all day. Some days she just won't eat....so I will mix the wet food in a blender and liquify it and put it in a syringe and feed her that way! What ever it takes.... She was 1.2 lbs at 13 weeks when I got her and she is now 6 1/2 months old and weighs only 2.8 lbs....
