| How much rescue remedy? How much would i give Layla? i don't want to put it in her water because a) she isn't much of a drinker and b) we only needed it when there is a thunder storm. So anyone know how much i would give her in her mouth? Thanks! |

| I am a hopeless devotee of the Rescue Remedy, for my dogs and myself. For my 2.7 lb Ella Bean, I give 2-3 small drops in the mouth. For my 9 1/2 lb. Louis, I give 4-5 small drops. For me - 10 large drops in a cup of chamomile tea There is an alcohol free version for pets if that is your concern.

| I wouldn't give more that three to four drops. Give 45 minutes before the storm if that's possible. It takes that long to really take effect. |

| Don't overdo it, smaller the dog, smaller the dose. You can even put a drop or two on your fingers first and rub it on the gums or let her lick it off your finger if you are nervous. I am only wary of the version with alcohol as far as ill effects - I wouldn't use it on an unhealthy dog without consulting a vet...

| Its also marketed under the generic name "Five Flower Remedy" or "Five Flower Formula." The alcohol free version is the pet version, but I use it too! Rescue® Remedy - Official Site

| Dr. Bach's Rescue Remedy is a flower essence formula containing the following: * Impatiens: For those who act and think quickly, and have no patience for what they see as the slowness of others. They often prefer to work alone. Teaches empathy and understanding of and patience with others. We've found it very fast-acting in alieviating an impatient attitude and lowering stress. * Star of Bethlehem: For trauma and shock, whether experienced recently or in the past. Teaches the ability to recover from traumas and to integrate them into the present life. * Cherry Plum: For those who fear losing control of their thoughts and actions and doing things they know are bad for them or which they consider wrong. Teaches trust in one's spontaneous wisdom and the courage to follow one's path. * Rock Rose: For situations in which one experiences panic or terror. * Clematis: For those who find their lives unhappy and withdraw into fantasy worlds. They are ungrounded and indifferent to the details of everyday life. Teaches one to establish a bridge between the physical world and the world of ideas; may foster great creativity. Is also used to bring clarity and alertness to the present moment. It may be sold at GNC - and it is fine for dogs. The regular version has alcohol and I wouldn't be to excited to give it to a tiny Yorkie or even my 10 pounder, so there is now an alcohol free version for pets. I linked to it in an earlier post. My dogs respond exceptionally well to it. It was recommended by the dog's homeopath and I use it for separation anxiety, before vet trips and for myself!
