| Swallowed a chunk of rawhide Hi there, My puppy Buffy swallowed a nickel-sized piece of a rawhide chew shoe. Has anyone's dog eaten a bigger piece of rawhide? Were there any repercussions? Any advice would be appreciated. All the best, mb |

| I agree. I was warned by my vet and breeder NOT to give my dogs rawhide. If she appears ok and is eating and drinking, chances are she's fine. Good luck!

| So far, so good. What are some danger signs i should look for? Could the rawhide get stuck in her stomach, intestines, etc? |

| What are some alternatives for chewy treats/toys to keep puppies busy? I tried Nylabones and she likes them but not as much as rawhide, etc. |

| Some things I would watch for are diahrea, not being able to go to the bathroom and not eating. They would be warning signs that maybe it didn't pass.

| Try bullysticks (they are like a long beef tendon)...it will take them awhile, also better then ears are good, and dingo beef jerky or chicken jerky strips. It is more imrpotant for her to be safe then to give her rawhide as a treat!!!

| My dogs love chicken jerky strips, bully sticks, greenies, baby carrots, watermelon, apple slices, etc. There's a TON of natural and healthy things that dogs can eat instead of rawhide.

| I heard the same about bully sticks. I refuse to give my dogs anything that wreaks to high heaven! So I choose beef tendons instead of bully sticks. I just don't like the idea of my Yorkie chewing on...well...you know... And then trying to give me a lick/kiss... |

| Watch for vomiting.. especially after drinking water or eating, because that can indicate a blockage. I'm sure she'll be fine though.

| Good luck! As long as she's eating and playing normally, I'm sure she's probably fine. Both of my dogs just love rawhide and they get it, just as long as I'm there to supervise. Try Greenies. Both of mine love greenies as well |

| I am sure your little one will be okay. I don't give rawhide, pigs ears or greenies but I do give the tendons on occasion. There the sprial ones I think. Bully sticks don't stink btw. Smal treats for trsining supplement their meals and they have lots of toys! |
