| Hay fever? Does anyone know if dogs can get hay fever? Anyone any experience of it? Button has been to the vets twice with snuffles & put on antibiotics both times. These cleared it up for a bit, though the vet was a bit puzzled as to just what had caused it as he had no temperature & showed no other signs of actually being ill. Now spring has suddenly come in full flush here, gone from winter to summer in a fortnight! Our apple & cherry trees in the garden are weighed down with blossom, some of the plants are in flower, the lawn's growing faster than I can mow it & Button is snuffling again He wakes up in the morning snorting( not like reverse sneezing, more as if his nose is bunged up) & sniffling but it mostly clears once he's running round, only to start again when he comes in from a wee in the garden. I'm reluctant to take him back to the vets for more antibiotics.....at this rate he'll be on them all summer. Can anyone offer any advice please? Are there such things as doggy antihistamines? Be grateful for any ideas really. |

| My vet says Otis has it too. Last summer/fall he had to go on hydroxyzine. Hopefully he won't have to this year. We'll see, but yes, they can get it. Good Luck with your baby

| Oh thank you It's actually a bit of a relief to find it could perhaps be hay fever. was beginning to wonder if he had some chronic illness that wouldn't clear up. Button weighs 7lb, so I could try the Benedryl, though perhaps I should pop him back to the vets first to be on the safe side with diagnosis. At least I can suggest it might be that now, as I don't think his vet had considered that possibility. |
