How can I? So I know how you feel.

Can you try petzlife and see if that will work? If it were me (well this is what I've been doing) I'd probably hold off, keep brishing her teeth and find something she might be interested in chewing.

I totally understand girl! Hugs to you!!!

Thanks so much and I am so sorry Zoey and you went through that. You definately understand my fear. I do use petzlife and I'm going to start brushing twice a day and hope it helps. My biggest concern is that when I was brushing today a tooth felt loose. Her teeth are so darn tiny and I can barely even get into her mouth. My fiancee will be here in a bit and I'm going to get him to help me so we can check. If it is, this is such a bad sign.

She uses it on Buddy and his teeth look great.

Good Luck in deciding what to do. It's a hard decision.
Thanks for the help. I do use petzlife but I'm not noticing a big difference. All the others have good teeth and no tarter at all and then there's Pia. I'm going to brush twice a day but I first need to make sure that is safe to do. I thinkt he bottle doesn't suggest this. I need to go read it again. Thanks for the kind words.

We still use PetzLife a few times a week as well, particularly on the back teeth.

I hope you can find something that will help and avoid the anesthesia altogether. Sending positive thoughts and hugs!!!!!
Wow, I never ever would have thought to use guaze. That is a WONDERFUL idea. I'm definately going to start doing this. Thank you so much for the help. We appreciate it so very much!!!

I know how scared you must be. Pixie also has terrible teeth and gums and is just 2 years old. The vet said to try and brush every day and use Petzlife. I have been doing this for 5 weeks and there is some improvement but I know she still should have a professional cleaning When I had Cali spayed I had her done at a state of the Art ER hospital due to her needing a liver biopsy and possible obstruction, and the same place did a liver biopsy on my pom about 8 months ago and she stopped breathing but the critical care doctor was there and got her breathing again 15 minutes after she stopped. They were breathing for her. When I had Dixie (RIP) under the care of a kidney specialist when we thought she had a chance to make it, he said he would only want her spayed at their specialty clinic so they would have all the technology and experience to insure she could pull through with her kidney failure. Sorry this is so long, but if you can find a specialty clinic with state of the art equipment and critical care experience that may be safer. I know it is more costly.

Using Petzlife can help with this issue, but what if a situation should arise where Pia needs to go under? Maybe you can contact the vet that has moved across country and ask for a recommendation, a vet that has experience working with really tiny animals. Or maybe someone here who has a tiny baby can recommend a vet he/she uses in your area.

London is chewing on it right now, they are the small ones, and are beef bones. They even have some meat on them so that is what interests her in chewing them, do you have a natural pet place around you that sells this type of stuff? They keep them frozen. If you do find out the name of the anestesia that the last vet suggested can you please let me know what it's called? I'm scared to death about London going under as well. She is so sensitive. Can you get in contact with the vet and ask her? Maybe they have her phone number..

Hey Sarah, hugs to you because I know you are a nervous wreck about London. If I find out the name I will definately let you know. I don't know of any natural pet places around here that sell anything like that. I have to wonder if these are what I just ordered They are natural bones and a few had filling in them. However, they can't be the same because London would not be able to chew them. They would be toooooooo big. Any chance you know of a website that sells them??

I wish I could take credit for it, but it was vet's suggestion But, it had made a huge difference in the ability to make sure I get to all the teeth and all around the back ones. And the added benefit is they don't fight like they did with the brush. And you can see the stuff that comes off on the guaze as well. You can actually use your finger nail to scrap (with the gauze over top) where you see really bad areas.

I do know with the PetzLife that you're not supposed to use it every day after the original 30 days. I have seen some other threads about another dental product that others recommend, but for the life of me I can't remember what it is. I believe I've also read threads about adding apple cider vinegar to their water to also help with the teeth and breath. And I've seen some other products sold at the pet store you can add to their water as well.

I'm so sorry you went through all of that with your babies. I'm going to check about a specialty clinic for her. This is a very good suggestion and I thank you so much.

hmm i don't think they would sell it online cause it's a bone that is kept frozen cause they have raw meat on them still, so they cant ship it or else it will smell or go bad. I think i know which one you ordered, i also bought a couple of them, they are natural bones but they are dry and they are white with like dry filling in them? The ones i have have peanut butter filling or bacon i think, however i put it infront of them and none of them were interested, i think they think its like plastic lol But the raw meat ones London is LOVING! It's just cow bones i guess, it's still kinda big for her, she cant put it all in her mouth but thats good cause she wont choke, they are just supposed to chew them. They are about 4 inches long and like 3 in wide. She won't let anyone get near her lol Maybe try going to a meat place and ask them if they have frozen bones and if they can cut them up somehow for you. If not then check online for places near you, there has to be someplace that sells them. Check places that sell nature's variety raw food, cause they have to be frozen so they also must sell frozen bones with meat. They are prob. the same company...ohh here you go i just googles them. i guess it is nature's variety that sells them. The first one is what it looks like, the 2nd link its at the bottom of the page. Or just google frozen bones by 'Nature's variety' or by 'Primal'. I hope these help with London's teeth cause evn though i brush them they are gross!

I'm working on finding out where she is. I just wish I would have known about this because I definately would have went and talked with her. I'm sure the new vet is who she'll recommend but I'm not comfortable with that. I need to know that this vet has been around for a good while and hear about him from other people. I hope that made sense. Yes, I definately need to find a new vet incase any of my babies require any type of attention. I just figure once I find a vet for the teeth, then I will have my good vet.

I wish I had your vet near me. That truly is wonderful advice. I plan to really crack down and brush twice a day using the petzlife for a month and then I'll still brush twice a day but with something less harsh. I guess I'll just switch off every other day with something else. I do use some type of stuff in the water but I think its pretty worthless. I'm trying everything before it comes down to putting her under. Thanks again for all the help.

Thanks so much Sarah. I'm going on a mission tomorrow to find those bones. I must admit they are certainly nasty looking for a vegetarian's eyes. I hope I can find some. I can see her liking them. The other bones definately sound like the ones we have. Mine put their noses up to them. Our babies sound so much alike. Thanks again for the help. Hugs

Hi Dina... I am so sorry about Pia and know your concerns. When Grizzley Bear was alive he was diagnosed with the liver shunt. So when it came time to get his teeth cleaned or pulled. I was referred to the University of California, Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. I was very impressed on the kindness and how well they handled him. As Patti said in her post in reference to state of the art equipment. They had that also. Maybe if you have a University around you that has a Vet Hospital School they may be able to help you. My heart goes out to you for I know you want the best care possible for Pia.I wish you the best of luck and will keep you in my thoughts. Hugs to all of you!
