| What age was did yours come into heat? I know I've heard somewhere that yorkie females are alot like human females, there is no set age for their first heat...BUT I'd like to know if there is maybe an average age most lean towards. I ask because KaCee just turned 7 months old and I'd like to have her spayed before her first heat, however with a current "financial situation" that just arose, I'd like to know if it's safe for me to hold off a couple more months. Thanks in advance, I'd really like to hear what age your little girls were.

| she could go into heat at any time..you just don't know. I always recommend having a female spayed by 6 months of age because they really can go into heat anytime after that. Many yorkies tend to go into heat later..9-12 months of age, but I've known of yorkies that have gone into heat at 7-8 months of age as well. Best to get it done ASAP before she goes into heat

| I knew that's what you were going to say! I should of did it last month but I was waiting until she'd lost a few more baby teeth and hit 3 pounds.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Ruby did not come into heat until about 5 days before she was a year old. She was just under 3 lbs at the time. I waited then to have her spayed when she was about 14 months old and right at 3lbs.

| Layla went into heat at 8 months... a week before I was going to have her spayed! I put off the spay until she was 10 months.

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Zoey is just turning 36 weeks this week and I am having her spayed next week. I was supposed to have her spayed a month ago but then hubby got laid off so I had to push it back. Can't wait to get it done. I think the smaller they are the longer the wait for that first heat. Not sure but that is how it seems to be listening to when pups have had their first heats.

| I got my girls all spayed before their first heat. Kissy was 6 months but she was my first and i didn't know how long to wait so she got done then. Angel was 11 months old when i got her and she had never been in heat. She was spayed immediately. Princess was almost a year old when i got her and she had never had a heat either. She was spayed immediately. Candy was 10 months when i got her and she was spayed at 11 months and never had a heat. You should watch for any swelling of the hoo hoo. If it starts to swell, then i would take that as a sign of her body preparing for a heat and get her spayed asap. Good luck! Get all her baby teeth pulled while she is under too since she is tiny. If you miss getting her spayed before her first heat, i would suggest waiting until mid cycle to get her done after that so that all her organs will go back to normal size. Some vets won't spay if they are in heat as it is harder to spay with they are all swollen inside. |

| Just a thought, maybe there is an organization around where you live who will help you w/ the $ of spaying so no chance of an accident. Might check w/ your local humane society or some vets in the area to see if they would know of any??? Good luck! |
