| Help, My 1-year old Yorkie is emitting a weird odor My 1-year old yorkie had her first heat and is finished with her cycle. She is now letting off an odd odor that if filling the room. Her breast are swollen and her little peepee is swollen too. I am so worried about her. I am taking her to the doctor tomorrow morning, but was wondering if anyone knew or could tell me what this might be? Also, I have bathed her several times. It is not coming from her ears. I do not know. Thanks Last edited by Suzan1003; 05-11-2008 at 02:15 PM. Reason: Left something out |

| I am not sure either, but wanted to ask.... do you mean when you say she is finished her "cycle" that she has stopped bleeding? or that she has gone 3 weeks since she started and is past ovulation, etc. The reason I ask is that after the bleeding is over, they are still in thier heat cycle and that is when she is ovulating and can get pregnant. That is when the scent is very strong, that a male will smell and try to get to a female. If you mean that she is already past that, then I am not sure and I would see the vet.

| I just did a search because I could not remember what the condition was that I was thinking of.. This is what I found. Pyometra In The Dog, A Serious Uterine Infection Requiring Surgery... ThePetCenter.com It is very possible that your dog could have Pyometra. It is an extremely serious condition and it is important that she is seen as soon as possible. I think I would get her to an ER vet today! I hate to scare you, but I think it is better to be safe than sorry.
