| Question for homecooking-how often does your baby poo? Dear homecooking members, My yorkie boy is a very picky eater so homecooking is naturally a good choice. The thing is, he doesn't poop every day. He used to but he doesn't anymore. I wonder why? Is it because of the diet? I feed him beef, chicken and fish. I feed him beef a few days a week and then move on to chicken and then fish because otherwise he won't eat it. He doesn't particularly like his vege, fruits or brown rice but will eat them when I mix it with the meat but usually there is a fair amount of rice and vege left. Does your Yorkie poo every single day or is it normal to poo once every other day?

| How much do you feed at a meal, and how many times a day do you feed? I feed my girls 1/4 cup of home cooked meals twice a day and they will go poo once and that's in the morning. If they get a light lunch of maybe yogurt and fruit or some cheese and old fashion peanut butter then I can expect a poo before bedtime and again the next morning. |

| My girl's poo decreased dramatically when I started home cooking. Zoeybear went from 3-4 X a day to once or twice a day at the most. She does usually go every day at lesst 1X tho'.

| I feed twice a day, about 1/2 a cup each time. The thing is, he doesn't like fruits and vege and I am thinking that is why he doesn't poo? He will pick out all the meat and just try to eat all the meat He used to go once every day and just this past week it became once every other day. I am a little worried.

| I bought a little chopper from Bed Bath and Beyond and I puree raw veggies: carrots, celery, yellow squash and zucchini, and the MAGIC trick to mine eating veggies is Green Bell Pepper! I think they really like the smell and taste so, I make sure that I puree enough green pepper in their mixture. Mine can not have brown rice anymore so I give egg noodles instead, maybe try that or, when I did feed brown rice, I would let it sit in the fridge for a day to get out the moisture, but then I would puree the rice too, so it's was 'finer' and they could not pick it out. I also puree meat, again, so they can't pick it out. Best of luck! Mine poop 3 to 4 times eating homecooked. |

| I struggle with Cordy eating and his poo. He doesn't poo daily, and some days he likes chicken, other days, he likes pork chops and some days, he;ll even eat an egg. Never a lot at once, or even sometimes more than once a day... but we keep trying. He must've been a finger fed little man before he came here with us, cause that's what he does now, and he eats much better for my hubby than myself. He's a trying little guy! (But I wouldn't trade him for a million bucks!)

| Hey Potter.. i also bought a food chopper and pulverize the crap out of veggies.. and then mix it in so well with the meat that she can't spit it out otherwise she wouldn't either. YOu should try yogurt as a snack... and now that he is eating homecooking he will poop less. His body is using all the nutrients that you are putting in unlike the kibble which is a lot of fillers that his body doesn't need. Layla poops once a day. |

| What happens if he doesn't eat because I pulverize the veggie into the meat? Do I wait till he is hungry and eat it? I can already imagine his face looking into his bowl and then turning away not eating. It is so hard to be a picky eater's mommy I ran out of yogurt, will have to run out to buy some.

| I did and he carefully picked the cheese and the meat unless I melt the cheese in the microwave and then mix it real good. He will still leave the veggie though. He loves cheese the first few times and then he loses interest. Yesterday he had beef and loves it. Today he turned his nose up on the beef Sometimes I wonder if he is really that intelligent to the point of picking his food to that point knowing I will want him to eat somehow. I mean I know he is smart but sigh not sure what to feed him anymore. Sorry for ranting.. I pretty much do not know what to do.

| I went through these issues with TJ - I used to homecook, meat, brown rice and veggies. I used to have to put cheese on top and that worked for a little bit, then I would use a fine cheese grater and make dust out of a beef liver treat ontop of the food, but it was like pulling teeth to get him to eat well. Then we switched to the premade raw food - OMG night and day, he LOVED this food. He was on it for about 6 months and then on a few bits of info I learned about his breeder, I got his bile acid tested, this test shows how the liver is functioning. Well his numbers were high, so I had to switch his food to a low, but quality protein and NO MEAT, as the ammonia from the digestion of meat is too harsh on the liver. So now his diet consists of: Spinach Egg Noodles, Low Fat Cottage Cheese, Pureed Veggies (Carrots, Celery, Yellow Squash, Zucchini, Green Peppers). Since his BAT numbers have come down to normal, I still shred some chicken and sprinkle that ontop of his mixture. He also gets dried cranberries and dried blueberries, apple pieces and he LOVES the center of romaine lettuce. Occasionally I have to sprinkle a little cheese ontop, but the smell of the green pepper and a few pieces of romaine lettuce stalks entices him to eat up. |

| I think I will pulverize his veggies starting from tomorrow and mix it really well and then get his BAT done during his checkup next week and will go from there depending on the results. Thanks gals.

| I put the food through a food processor so they can't "pick" out what they want It works great for us, and they eat all their food.
