| How old to neuter? Thanks! I forgot to ask the vet at our appointment. Do they have to be a certain weight as well as age?????? Last edited by My_Dog_Max; 05-06-2008 at 03:52 PM. |

| It really just depends on the individual vet. Some vet's still wait until the traditional 6 months to spay or neuter. Many vets spay and neuter earlier now...as early as 8 weeks of age. Most here start at 12-16 weeks of age. Just depends on the vet. Some people feel safer if the dog is over 2lbs, but the truth is that any size of dog can be anaesthetized...you just have to find a vet familiar with tiny dogs and use the right kind of amount of anaesthesia. Be sure to have a full blood panel done before as well to make sure your dog is 100% healthy before he has his surgery.

| Tyson is getting neutered in 2 weeks. His vet said now is the perfect time, so he's scheduled. My poor baby. |

| Hot Rod was 6 1/2 mos old when he got neutered. He was, I think, 2.8-2.9lbs at the time. Good luck with your little one.
