| How long can a Yorkie fast for surgery? Hi all, My Yorkie-poo will be nuetered on Wed. The Dr said no food after midnight. His surgery is scheduled for 11:00 am. Isn't that too long for him to go without food? He is only 4 lbs. Thank You! Cindy & Coco |

| No, he will be fine and please don't sneak him food after midnight because it could cause serious complications with the surgery.

| Not a problem. He is old enough to handle it. When he is out with anesthesia, his metabolism slows. They really do just fine. Bring some food from home with you when you check in. The staff will feed it to him as soon as he is ready to eat. If he is having teeth removed at the same time, that food should probably be canned.
