Lately I have noticed Itsy shedding on my clothes and her blanket where she sleeps. It's not a lot of hair (not like my cats shed), just sort of a light layer of wavy fuzz. Itsy is a Yorkie Poodle mix but I thought both those breeds are supposed to be non-shedding (which is specifically why I chose her)?? Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong when I groom her?
I bathe her once about every 7-10 days and use a tearless puppy shampoo and just in her last bath used Pantene conditioner as well (I had noticed the shedding before that though so I know the conditioner didnt cause it). I use a plastic human's comb on her hair since it seems to work best and she hated the slicker brush. She is 15 wks.

Yorkies don't shed once they get their adult coat in but they will shed their puppy hair...some more than others. With regular grooming it shouldn't be a problem and it will only last until they have their adult coat....after that comes in the only hair you'll probably see is at bath or brushing time.

Good answer. I've been wondering if it was unusual to find a little in the tub.

My Yorkie poo is shedding too and looks all scruffy right now. Some longer hair some shorter hair. I just hope it all even's out. He is 4mo old. Does yours look scruffy?

My Yorkie-poo Coco will be 6 months old May 11th. He hasn't shed at all.
He looks almost 100% Yorkie. He does look a little scruffy. He has a soft cottony coat. He does need a trim before summer. I don't know what kind of coat he will have when he is older.

Itsy looks a bit scruffy. Her coat is definitely "cottony". It is pretty thick and has a bit of a wave to it. I try to part it but as soon as I get it all combed down nice and put her down she shakes herself and her hair all stands out and she looks like a big puffball.

I have noticed her coat is breaking to silver a lot on her head (she has about an inch of bright silver roots...she looks like she's going gray!). Also the hair on her back is going silver with lots of white streaks mixed in, and all of her tan parts that were sort of a rusty color before are lightening up a lot too. I have heard that cottony coats don't always break colors so I'm excited that it looks like she is...I can't wait to see her adult coat

i find a little hair in the sink when i bathe romeo. he rarely sheds outside of the sink.

Brutis is still very black and only has a little tan mixed with the black on his legs,ears and face. His back is black with a couple of white or silver hairs. I really doubt he will get all the Yorkie coloring. His ears are standing up though and are too big for his head!

I think he is going to be a big boy too maybe 10 lbs. It will be fun to see how he turns out!

Yorkies don't shed but, they will lose hair everyday just like we do. However, if Sadie gets really nervous (like being at the vets) she will tend to lose more hair. The vet told me this is normal...

Teddy doesnt shed, but when i brush him everyday i notice the hair that is in the brush isnt his long black hair, but a cottony gray colored hair..

ALL dogs shed to a certain degree. Even all the non-shedding dogs, shed, but so little that's it isn't really noticed most of the time. The puppies will shed that cotton type fuzz baby coat for awhile.
I wouldn't use a slicker brush on the coat except for getting the knots out, and don't let it touch the skin.
I'd also strongly suggest using a very mild hand made doggie soap. When you read all the ingredients in a dog shampoo it makes you wonder what your actually putting into their blood supply. Also the doggie soap has natural ingredients that repel fleas.
