| Puppy food help and advice? I am hoping to get some advice for me and my new almost 6 month old yorkie boy and his diet. He came to me eating Merrick's grammy food, which I believe is an all stage food. When I took him to the vet, she said I should put him on a puppy food, so I ordered Merrick's puppy plate dry and wet food. Then I talked to the breeder and she was concerned about the amount of protein in the puppy plate. 28% in the puppy as to the 23% in the grammys pot pie. So now Ive been torn, Ive been leaving down the grammy's dry all day. Then twice a day mixing a little of the grammy's dry with a little of the puppy plate wet. He still doesn't eat a ton, but seems to eat the wet/dry mix on his own better. So, a few questions, is the amount of protein in the puppy food okay? Is Merricks a good option, looks like some posts mentioned quality issues? Ive gotten samples of chicken soup for the puppy lover soul and artemis-should I try these? It also looks like people also really like innova and timberwolf-are these a better option? Im so confused at this point with my research, not only with the brand, but also with the amount of protein. Any help and advice is much appreciated!! Thank you!! |

| My vet said that an all stages food is fine for a puppy as long as they gain weight. My Breeder also mentioned the protein concern, but my vet did not share the same concern. I used to swear by Merrick but they did have quality issues so I switched to Evanger. My girls love that. I feed Evanger canned mixed with Timberwolf Organic Wild and Natural Dry food for the evening meal, and leave out the Timberwolf Dry during the day for them to munch on.
