| Baby teeth....when do you know to pull them? I have wondered for a few months now if Sully has baby teeth that need to be pulled....but how do we know? He's not bothered by any of his teeth, it seems, but...? Here's a pic of his mouth, at least the front few teeth. And if you can't tell by this picture, for those of you who have had your babies' teeth pulled, how did you know to do so? Sully was neutered at 6mo. and is almost a year now - but our vet has never mentioned the need....

| Good question Val...I was looking in Teddy's mouth today because he has been chewing a lot lately and there were 2 extra canines popping through beside his other ones. UGH...UGH...UGH... Now what does he need to go in ASAP and have the baby teeth pulled or what? I just told him last week after his heart worm test that he wouldn't have to go back to the vet until December and now look what a liar I am......Poor Teddy!

| At Kalis 1-year birthday she got her teeth pulled. The breeder said: "That was about time!", so I guess we could have done it before. I can see Mare is changing her teeth now, so I guess her christmas present will be a trip to the clinic She is from 28/1-05, so she will also be close to a year old. It was quite easy to see that Kali had 4 teeth where there were 2 in the same place, the little sharp whelp tooth and the new bigger grownup tooth. They were all in the front. Hope that helps

| Oscar has double canines on his lower right side. I'll have the vet take the baby tooth out at his neutering only if he thinks it's going to be a problem. I would ask your vet. Sometimes the extra teeth create a problem with the bite, and they can also hold tartar where they meet the permanent tooth. |

| Ok, so that's good to know it's not "too late" - but Sully doesn't act like there's a problem? Should I just ask my vet next time we're in for a visit? I guess I was wondering if I could tell whether or not he needs teeth pulled. Hmm.....

| I would ask the vet. Mine said if any were retained he would pull them when Chachi was neutered.

| Finally came out Just before Merlot's 1st B-day the Vet said that he needed to come in and have 2 baby teeth up front pulled. Merlot never seemed like they bothered him and we moved states a week later, so I postponed his appointment. By his 1st birthday he was at my friends house chewing on a cloth toy bone and they came right out! I'm glad that I didn't have to have him go under for the procedure! |

| I have noticed that my Spunky's adult teeth are coming in RIGHT behind his baby teeth. So now he has two rows of teeth. he is 6 months, do these baby teeth need to come out asap to give room for the adult teeth, or do i still need to wait? |

| Val, The baby teeth are usually very sharp. For what I see in Sully's mouth it seems that at least in the front he lost all of his baby teeth. To be safe I will ask your vet. Gucci needs a couple of teeth pull. She is already 1yr old but is not spay yet. When she gets spay the vet will have to pull those out. She still has all her baby canines(so she has 2 pairs of canines in each side), one baby tooth on the top front teeth. I tried taking pics of her mouth but my cam is not good so they didnt came out rite. I will try some other time. I know she needs them pull, we are saving the money to take her in. She is being behind in all her shots and being spay cause the vet wanted to treat her ringworm first. Her case was so bad it took around 5 to 6 months. When she finally got better from the ringworm, we started having financial difficulties delaying her being spay. I know im a bad mommy. Attached is a pic of my baby when she lost her hair due to the ringworm. Poor thing looks pathetic on the first 2 pics. Last pic is a recent pic of my beautiful baby.{ Ringworm another reason why we all should do research for good breeders before we get our babies. I got Gucci from a broker, who i thought was a breeder.} Last edited by Marie; 07-25-2005 at 01:19 AM. |

| I wanted to add that we found out that Gucci had the ringworm a week after she got home. Ringworm wasnt included on the contract and we have fallen in love with her. This is a pic of Gucci the first couple of days she got home. She was almost 12 weeks old. She looks like a cute stuff animal. |
