| Help Chelsea seem to throw—up once or twice a week Does anyone’s Yorkie get sick offer, Chelsea’s 12 month old seem to throw-up at least once or twice a week, this morning around 4:00 am she throw-up, the fluid wasn’t stinky or yellowish like last time. I thought it was her food, but she didn’t eat anything different. I do feed her the bully stick 100% beef tendon; I have being feeding her the tendon since I brought her home. The last time she got sick she was quiet until I feed her and then she was fine, played a lot like nothing happened. Her weight is fine, her spirit is great, just this throwing up. I feed her homemade food, mostly 75% beef and the rest vegetable etc…which she won’t eat now. She has be nibbling on Natural Balance, I don’t know if it’s just her, or maybe something else is bothering her. I didn’t want to take her to the vet yet, until I find out from you guys…any suggestions??? Is anyone giving their Yorkie’s Natural Balance is it a good dog food for our the Yorkie?

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | If she threw up at 4am, out of the blue, it could be bc she was a bit too hungry/tummy empty for too long. What time had she eaten dinner the night before? If she is vomiting early in the a.m., it may mean she needs a snack before bedtime. When you say "homemade food" - are you supplementing and everything? If not, the upset could be bc of an unbalanced diet too. Which Natural Balance are you feeding? It's a fairly decent food - so I wouldn't think it would upset her unless there was an allergy or something. How long has the vomiting thing been going on?

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Ramsey will throw up bile if her tummy is empty. The beef may be too high in fat for her. I'd suggest using chicken.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Just noticed the bully stick reference...a friend's yorkie's tummy is too sensitive for those. If she gives her one...her dog gets sick.

| I would atleast call your vet. Alot of times they will give you an idea of what to do over the phone. It seems odd that she throws up alot. I agree that the beef might be too rich for her too and to try chicken and brown rice, with veggies instead. Good luck!

| You’re right about empty stomach she didn’t eat that much last nite. Also I think when I changed her food from chicken to beef that also upset her stomach. I make the same mixture only change the meat. She just started eating Natural Balance I think its the chicken blend, I was at my sister’s place and Chelsea started eat it so I took some home to see if she would eat it herself. I’ve tried all different dog foods to no avail, so I thought if she eats this on her own she likes it. If she won’t eat I have being feeding her by hand. I’ve always leave her food out too…

| I posted with the same problem we were having with Kiki not too long ago. She would just throw up out of the blue and then be fine. I brought her to the vet and he said it was probably too many hours without food during the night and to try to give her a snack before bed. Easier said than done ... the food is out, she just eats if she wants and other times turns her nose to it. I've been adding a teaspoon of Merrick's Grammy's Pot Pie to her dry food and she seems to be loving her food now. Anna www.dogster.com/dogs/511397

| I would get her tested for a liver shunt. It could be that the protien in the food she is eating is too high if she has a liver shunt. I would get tested to rule that out since it is so previlent in yorkies.
