| I introduce my puppies to dry food at 4 weeks. I take a good quality puppy food (I use Chicken Soup Puppy) put it in a blender dry and grind it until it is very fine like corn meal. I leave a small double sided bowl, with ground food in both sides, in the pen with the puppies, along with a small bowl of water. Puppies take to the ground food really well and you don't have to worry about spoilage or messy mush. As the puppies get older I just grind the food a little less. Of course, mom is still feeding pups also but by doing it this way the transition from mom to dry food goes very smoothly. |
