| Always looking for more food Hi, My 5 month is 3.5 lbs and eats the recommended 1/2 cup daily, but she is always looking for more. She finishes her 1/4 in the morning and other 1/4 at dinner time super fast. I don't give her table scraps. Should I give her more. But I don't want an overweight dog. |

| I had a similar situation only our pup was a few ounces lighter. He is 11 months and 3.3 lbs n ow. Anyway, I give him a tad less at each meal and then give him a snack during the day to keep his blood sugar up. But , since he was eating it all, I did increase his intake over all. Also if you are feeding food with filler by any chance, he will need to eat much more and poop much more as it is not absorbed as nutrician. I hope this helps.

| I think in general most people either free feed or give 3 meals a day to puppies up to the age of 6 months. They are so active during this time and they usually do not get overweight. I would be careful about restricting a puppies intake because all their organs and bones are still growing and forming and you do not want them to be deficient in calories during this important time of development. That is why puppy food is higher calories, protein and fat. Of course ask your vet what is right for your situation, but I have had Yorkies for 17 years so I have had quite a few pups!! Good Luck!
