| Spaying Checklist? Bella's appointment is next week to get spayed While I'm happy she won't go into heat again, I'm starting to get really nervous. I was so worried when Rocky got neutered, but he did o.k, so at first I thought that would help me since I already had one small dog go under anesthetic, but as the time gets closer I'm getting more and more worried. So I found ANOTHER vet, long story short, one of our vets were way to expensive, and the other one that Rocky did get neutered at are very rude to me, so I'm not giving them my business anymore. Our friends go to another vet, so I looked into them and liked them, so that's where Bella is going to go. So she went to get her bloodwork done today to make sure she's healthy to undergo the surgery, and here's everything I got covered so far, can you guys think of anything else I need to make sure is done so she'll be safer? Bloodwork Painmeds to bring home Isoflourine (sp?) anesthetic She will be monitered when having the surgery by machines She can come home the same day Is there anything else important that I'm forgetting? I feel like there is.

| Things you can do at home. onsies so she cant lick her stiches.... Get lots of sleep the night before in case your up with her the night of the spay. ( I was all night) Soft food if she is getting teeth out. bath the day before the spay insist on pain meds to come home with!

| Oh yeah I totally forgot, I have a couple diapers (Onseys are to big for her) from when she was in heat, I was going to ask the vet, but you guys could probably answer this, if I should put those on her to keep her from licking her stitches, or would that probably irritate it? Also, I requested the day she's spayed off work, well that day, not that night (if I have to I'd work like 4-9:30, that's when Leo will be home to watch her) then the whole next day off of work so I can be with her and watch her. I'm pretty sure she'll just be sleeping the whole time, but just to stay here and make sure she's comfortable.

| I concur with the IV and Ellie is not allowed to have surgery unless it is on a heated surface. They can lose body heat way too quickly...

| I had to always leave mine all night, but, the vets are up there all night with them..I had asked about bringing Ginger home that night, but, they prefer them up there in case anything would go wrong..she said the first night they mostly sleep anyway.. I know the vets changed it in the last year here, where now they can have water up until the time you take them in. |

| no advice, just want to say good luck! I can remember when my first "baby" was spayed. My pit Laney was 4 months old and only 4lbs. I was a nervous wreck and cryed the WHOLE day til my boss finally say, take off early and go get your girl. Laney was fine after the spay, other than pulling one stitch and it bleeding a bit.

| Mia was 3lbs when I spayed her. She had IV fluids, pain meds to go home, she got microchipped and teeth pulled, I had a preemie onesie for her (you put it on backwards snaps on the back) and cut a hole in the back to allow her to poop. Rest for the first few days and soft dog food. She may not want to pee or poop in the begining but she will eventually. She tried running around the following day. I had to try to keep her still. Good Luck!!!

| Sadie was uncomfortable and whined al night long. If you can get that night off you might want to. I don't hink your going to want to leave her. Sadie was walking around the next day, I had to keep her quiet because toward the end of the day she wanted to play with Chewy and I had to put her in her x pen off and on to keep her quiet. She ate great when she got home, peed and pooped fine. There was a little blood in her pee and they told me that was normal. It was scary but it went away after 2 days...
